I'm restoring the k5. I have excellent door panels with power switches. Not sure about condition of motors...should I restore and replace with used parts or is there a newer replacement system for old gm power windows I should use?

I'm missing the driver harness as well so I'm not sure which way to go...but I want power!!

Thanks for advice!!

Stay with the old motors until you see if they work. But do the relay mod. There are several write ups about it here somewhere.

Do the track rollers for sure. They all get flat spots as the factory grease breaks down and that causes them to bind. Like $3-$4 from any GM resto shop.
Then grease everything that moves in there. Window guides are a given as well. And like Fordum said, check motors before replacing them.
I've yet to do the relays myself but anything that will give full 12v at the motor is more than likely worth it.

The grease that GM used on the tracks is the same grease they used inside the motor. It dries out and gets gummy. On the motor, you can drill out the digits (I think there's 12 of them), take the case apart and clean all the nylon gears. Re-grease them with something like bearing grease and reassemble. In place of the rivets you use 10-32 bolts with a lock washer (or blue lock-tite). Basically a free new motor for a little bit of your time.
