I have a pneumatic grease gun, just a cheapy I got on sale from TSC. I was wondering if you guys that have used them for a while have ever had issues with them blowing the guts out of your zerks?

I've had a few zerks push back out over the years I've had it and always attributed it to cheap or faulty zerks.

What got me wondering about it was when I greased my bumper swing out for the first time and it started spewingthe grease back out. I swapped to a new fitting and haven't had an issue with it, but the one I took out was completely empty.

But you can see that it looks like there was the swaging to retain the ball there. Maybe it didn't get completely assembled? I dunno for sure. I guess I could pull my swing arm and look for the ball and spring?

But it got to thinking that maybe my grease gun was blowing out my zerks.

I have an air powered grease gun, never had a problem. Mine is an old craftsman professional model I bought in the 90s.

Me and my crew have used them for years. Air guns seem a bit sensitive to input pressure, we run them at 90 psi.
I have seen a few zerks blow thru but it's rare. Maybe 10 in 20 years??

I'm thinking this.

I use the Dewalt 20V one. I have blown out some zerks but none of them new, I would not blame the gun for sure. I have had several fail with a hand grease gun too.

I'm fighting with myself over getting the Milwaukee M18, M12 or just going back to a pistol grip manual gun. The air powered is nice if stuff is near the shop, but I would like more portability. I don't know if it's worth $200 vs $50 though.

If it was just my trucks I would have stayed with a hand pump. I grease a snocat in the winter and there are 28 wheels plus all the steering and drivetrain zerks. I put a lube locker tip on the Dewalt gun. Its been real nice in the snow to lock the coupler on and pull the trigger. I am set up with Dewalt for my work tools, they are just fine. If I was starting over I would seriously consider the Milwaukee, they are great tools too.

I'm all Milwaukee so I would go that way but yeah, it's just my personal stuff I work on which is why I'm considering just a standard hand gun.

I'm thinking about compromising and getting the M12 version. It's only a little more expensive than a good grease gun and I have the M12 ratchet already. It's 8k psi instead of 10k but that's still more than I can make with a hand pump gun.

Bought the M12 Grease from eBay. I grabbed a new cartridge of Green Grease from Vatozone on the way home from work and got it set up with my Lock-n-lube coupler as well.

All I've done is greased one of the steering knuckles on my spare lawn tractor but I'm impressed. I don't think I will ever notice the difference in 8k psi vs the 10k psi of the M18.

I'm really looking forward to getting to use this thing. Gonna grease ALL THE THINGS!

I almost threw both of my grease guns in the trash on Saturday. Both are leaky POS.

I think they all are. The spring in this Milwaukee is STRONG. The Green Grease I usually use is pretty thin as it's synthetic and has bypassed the piston seal on the tube on every grease gun I've owned. I'm curious to see how this one holds up.
