Pretty Sad [frown]

Re: UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!

Grim
Thanks for reminding me and others out there about these issues. We get busy with out lives and other daily goings on and we forget about things we take for granted. We all need to take part in keeping these areas open. The tree huggers are not the only threat though. Development is another, where I rode my dirt bike, hunted, and just plain enjoyed the "woods" as a child, is now a resturant row and a 30 screen movie theater. As a building inspector, especially in the town I am in now, I see more and more land turned into concrete. WE ALL NEED TO DO OUR PART!
We all need to remember frredom is a choice not a right, no matter what the choice is, and it can be taken from us at any given time due to any number of circumstances.
Again, thanks Grim, and I hope others take the time to read these posts, as it does in one way or another effect them.

I'm the current president of the one of the main off-road clubs in Ohio. I agree that a lot of people are pretty apathetic about dealing with land issues though we are finally starting to head in the right direction around here. Currently we are concentrating on issues in our own backyard. It is true that we should be worried about off-road trail availability all over the country because trail closing seems to have the domino effect and spreads, but a lot of clubs and people around here were getting burned out about paying dues that were going to fight to keep trails open that we could probably never feasibly use.

The Ohio Multi-Use Trails Association (www.ohiotrails.org) was recently started by some local enthusiasts, and includes all aspects of trail use, including hiking, horseback riding, snowmobiles, etc..... Their goal is to develop a strong voice in how our federal and state lands are used in the area. Ohio has quite a bit of National Forest land but none of it is available for Jeeps and trucks.

Another effort is an attempt to pass state legislation that would protect, or at least limit, private land owners from lawsuits when they open up their land for purposes such as trailriding. This has always been a big issue because land owners, including big companies like coal mining and lumber, were afraid of the liability aspect.

Thanks Grimmy.

The following is pasted from my reply to the Everything you need to get involved thread. I think this is important info so I put it here as well.

E-mailing politicians might make us feel like we're doing something, BUT it is known in the marijuana law reform community that politicians don't bother reading e-mail. If you really want to get your point of view noticed by politicians paper via snail mail is the most effective way. I'm not saying that you shouldn't send them e-mail and sign on-line petitions but they aren't nearly as effective as putting the stamp on the letter and putting it in the mail box. YOU CAN'T DELETE A PEICE OF PAPER IN AN ENVELOPE! A pile of letters on their desk is hard to ignore. Write letters! I do. If you don't have a printer put your letter on a disc and take it to a print/copy shop or to work and print it out mail it and that will really make a difference.

If you knew the truth, you too would be against marijuana prohibition!

Did that too. I got on Southern site and found the info on the Rich Mountain Road that Grimmy was refering to and took the writting contents for a letter and had the wife work some magic and put them into our/her own words and it was damn good. We sealded it up adn mailed it off this morning, also filled out the online preset for for the Ranger and Tellico, and filled in out names and address and mailed it off to.

Still hoping the GOV'T will ban the use of loud stereos with RAP music.

Your right. Also form letters are not good. They get lumped and sometimes miscounted. Petitions also don't hold as much weight as a indivudual letter and hand written usualy takes the most credit.
Bottom line is original individual letters are the best.

Only problem with that Grimmy is that they wouldn't be able to read my hand writting, but I guess I could get the wife to do that too.

From what I understood from the "Workshop"
Form letters DO count, they get counted and piled. But they do get counted. So it is something as opposed to nothing.

Hand written letters cary the most weight, no-doubt.

But you can't discredit simple-numbers. Everthing helps.

BTW,
Still reading....With much more enthusiazim, thanks to CK5.....
