Is that a sign of bad rings or am i just in need of an oil change.

I have a castrol synthetic oil change waiting for me

Is it carbed or FI? If it is carbed then you might have a bad fuel pump. Sometimes when the mechanical pump fails the diaphram will dump fuel into the crankcase.

Assuming it is a carbed engine, it is probably the fuel pump leaking into the oil.

Edit: Damn Scott beat me

As long as you get a regulator and ensure you aren't forcing too much pressure up there. Too much pressure and you will flood out because the needle will never close. Mechanical is cheap, easy, and easy to replace. For the cost of setting up a quality electric, you can do several mechanical pumps.

Well im going tbi soon so i'll have to soon regardless.
Im sure we have plenty down at the yard. I think our old strip truck still has one on it.

In that case just do a search here, I don't have any advice on which electrics are good quality. Get a good adjustable pressure regulator and you can use it with both the carb and the TBI.

It is awfully cheap and easy to swap the mechanical fuel pump.

But, whatever you do, Change The Oil!!
You'll lose the bearings quick if you don't

the gas i had in my oil was due to incorrect float settings. It would dump gas in the carb and down into the cylinders after I shut the engine off. gas sitting in the cylinder over night will leak into the oil

Mech fuel pumps are dirt cheap. Id replace it. Good time to upgrade any of your lines too. IMO, it would be way cheaper and easier than trying to switch to Electric Fuel pump now, just to get the carb motor running.

When you switch to TBI than you can get crazy with it. lol
