I regularly read folks here dumping on the previous owners of their trucks.
And I can sympathize. I have had to go behind folks and fix their doings.

But, here is a thought for you....Think about the poor folks that might get your truck someday!
I'm know that your projects are done quite well, no hack jobs, any wiring is well dressed, all connections are soldered or well crimped.
Relays are mounted properly and not hanging down.
In short, your stuff is correctly done, not like the PO's stuff.

But, its not in any way, shape or form, stock.

Imagine the poor guy, whose second hand K5 develops a little play in the steering. He buys a Chilton's, slides under to see what is worn out.

And discovers its been converted to cross-over.
Or hydraulic.
Unless he hangs around here, he is not even going to recognize what he is seeing.
Suppose he wants to trouble shoot a dash or switch problem, and finds one of the fantastic custom dashes or switch panels I have seen here from time to time.

Heck just changing a U-Joint........

My reason for this thread, is that I just heard that my old truck apparently has changed hands again, or at least someone else is working on it.

I had that F150 from 1979 when I bought it new, until 1989 when I got my present F250.
The 150 is not all that modded compared to the 250, but its just enough.

Air shocks front and rear with a control panel in the dash that lets you control the pressure on both the front and rear separately with gauges that tell you how much pressure in each.

Large steel front bumper with a large hole in the top where the PTO winch was.
I took it with me.
The PTO unit is still on, since it would not fit my new truck.

Someone engaged it right after I got rid of it, and the U-joint on the end of the PTO shaft started beating the hell out of the underside of the bumper.

Also a dual battery setup, which is what bit the new owner tonight. It seems they borrowed one of the batteries out of it to put in a friend's truck to get him home.
After all, my truck had a spare, right?

Then, the truck would not crank. They tried to jump it off, no luck. They bypassed the starter solenoid, and it cranked fine, but would not fire.
Plus none of the lights, gauges, radio, anything would work.

Then, they called me. I told them it sounded like the battery on the driver's side was completely dead.
Then they told me that it had been removed.

I told them to wrap lots of electrical tape around the positive terminal where the missing battery was supposed to be hooked up, reach under the dash, flip back the safety cover and flip the toggle switch.
Then the truck could be driven until the battery was replaced.

They told me that that switch was not there anymore. They could not figure out what it was for, so they disconnected it.

I told them to cut the end off the disconnected battery wire, pull it back across the engine compartment through the PVC pipe it was run in, and hook it to the existing battery positive terminal.

They did, and it worked.

So, I hereby give you a new class of people to bitch about...

Not just POs, but now FOs!! Future Owners...

Slim chance of that every happening. I have owned mine for 20 years now (half my life). I can honestly say I have never felt the urge to sell it, nor do I think I ever would. When I do something to it I never think of resale value. To me that just isn't even a thought I want to entertain. I haven't even driven it on the street for 8 years now and I still love it. New paint job is just around the corner though.
