Priced to high?

IMO, it's a little on the high side and your ad doesn't help.

You say that the engine blew a freeze plug "between the engine and trans", there are only freeze plugs in the engine block on that truck. If you're sure that's the problem, it may be worth fixing your self. The part is only a few dollars and it's super easy to fix.

Where does the engine leak oil? How bad? Pretty relevant to how much someone would pay for your parts.

Since you asked, I'd consider the trans worth $50 (core at best) and the motor worth a few hundred once it doesn't leak terribly. One that leaks coolant and oil badly, it's hard to imagine that you'll find someone to trust that without work.

That's my personal opinion, your results may vary :deal:

I'm positive it's the freeze plug behind the flex plate. and it leaks from the pan and timing cover and it's not enough to hit the ground just collects around.

I figured sense everything is going to be sold with it, the price would go up. It's literally connect the fuel lines, wiring and power steering lines and turn the key.

Make sure to advertise where the leak is from and how serious it is and how hard it is to fix. Your current ad is vague enough that IMO it will scare people away.

Too much info on the ad. And fix the freeze plug. I just bought a 350 off craigslist today and the ad was very brief. Said the year so I knew it was a tbi motor and said the rough mileage and price. 30k on it for 650

Problem with fixing the freeze plug is if I'm going to remove it all I don't want to put it back in for testing for a potential buyer. I'll be happy to include a set of freeze plugs for the buyer.

If its a minor slow drip type of leak,a tube of Aluma-Seal will probably seal it up OK...then,its up to you whether to disclose you knew it was leaking or not to a potential customer ...judging by local CL ads for similar engines and trannys,I'd say your price is a bit too high...but they vary in different parts of the country..

A 1986 TH700R4 is scrap. They aren't worth anything until 1987.

This was a beefed up rebuild but that's pointless considering it's slipping. I'm almost positive it has the 87+ internals.

if it slipps now then 50 bucks max for core use tranny is about all its worth.

and a motor i cant drive / hear warm up 100% = not much if i even do look at it. got to face it not a good combo in these hard times .

Yes I agree, I re listed the ad, added pictures and lowered the price.

Thanks for the advice guys.
