I have been looking, with out much luck, to find a 32 spline 205 (imagine that). So I am pretty much stuck with converting a 10 or 27 spline. What does is resonabley cost for the parts to convert it to 32 spline input and since I am doing it 32 spine front output? I there anything else I need to machine besides the input bearing hole? Is there a better year case to start with? I know about the SY on newer ones but don't they have the better front output? Not in a huge hurry so if I do find a 32 spline non slip yoke, what range do they sell for? What about this syncro 205 I hear about, what year are those?

We have a kit to convert the 10 or 27 spline cases over for $190, that includes a brand new 32 spline input gear, input bearing (including the two snap rings which are tough to find and many don't include) and a complete seal and gasket kit for the 205 since it has to be taken apart to be machined.

There is no other machine work necessary on the case, the 32 spline front output is a direct swap.

Chevy 205's are 10 spline (early) or 30 spline (late), only Dodge and Ford used 32 spline front outputs.

Absolutely avoid a synchro 205 if you can, the easiest way to tell is the rear bearing retainer. You would have to change ~2/3 of the gears and shafts to put a 32 spline front output in a synchro 205, essentially you'd need another 205 just for parts.

On the regular 205 you can see the back side of the bearing:

On a synchro 205, the bearing retainer covers up the back side of the bearing:

Am I correct in thinking the 30 spline is the flat flange? I would rather hit myself in the hand with a 5lb hammer than take the front drive shaft out of my k30 with the 10 spline.

divorced 205 cases used fixed yoke rear and 32 spline outputs also so do forget them for parts .

and what input 32 spline gear will you need on this case you build ?

short for fig 8 adaptor or doubbler kit , as the round 6 pattern was only 32 spline in gm use with long input gear.

and dont be afraid of the 205 reman job there easy look here. http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=253000
