Unless someone has some NOS circuits for sale I have to repair this one. I am thinking just a jumper wire but I don’t really know what kind of connector to use on the small tab on the gauge side tabs.

Any suggestions?
Thanks

Lack of a better idea - what about soldering a jumper directly to the tab with a connector on it?

fixed a lot of computer boards in my younger days .

clean off good spot and solder lire or chunk of paper clip in to fix bad spot . otherwise new part is in order to fix 100%

i use to buy okidata printers for cheep and pull them apart and use a heavy duty paper clip and 15min time to bix the broken power board inside and shave down the spot pinching and braking them in 2 . then i would resell them for profit easy .

Could you repair it? Sure.
Would it be reliable? I wouldn’t trust it.

Is this the same one?

If you do repair what you have make sure you clean all the exposed copper pads (grounds too) to make them shiny and then coat them with dielectric grease.

I’d need to do some research on the connector if I can find some time. You don’t have the original? What’s it for? And BTW: the contacts on there need cleaning/DG too.

Confused on the speedometer connection. It looks intact to me?

You COULD hardwire the speedometer, but at that point might as well do the whole thing.

Based on the torn plastic (if you zoom in) looks like someone screwed it up with a tool or something.

If I'm wrong and it melted, I definitely agree, why?

No interest in used but good condition?

Backwoods fix for the printed circuit board: Copper foil tape and superglue.

Ive repaired the traces before. scrape the plastic off of the copper in a good spot. Put a small spot of solder on it. Use a very small piece of wire to replace the trace. Solder the piece of wire across the damaged area, and then glue it down with 2 part epoxy. Will last for years.

It could have melted a long time ago and that’s why I have been having speedometer issues. But next discovery is the copper tabs are all folded and smashed up inside the connector. With this as well as other issues that’s like strike four on this part to be condemned. It’s probably best it isn’t repaired. Well, by me.
Even if I did repair this I’d know in the back of my mind it’s like this.

That’s what I need to do is get a solid replacement. When you get around to it I’d like to know what you have. Thanks!

I’d buy a couple if @joshuak has any parts clusters.

I have soldered wires onto these plastic clusters before. You have to be very careful with the heat. But if you do it right it's as good as new / permanent.

I got one out of a 91 will ship to you for the cost of shipping last post on my build thread.

Thanks but it’s not quite the right one. It looks to be a solid piece too. It needs to be the electronic speedometer version.
