I'm interested in input from folks that have used the various benders and their opinions on the Pro-Tools Brute.

Thinking about picking one up this week while I'm in Florida watching the Space Shuttle launch.

tho I don't have the Brute, I love my 105HD.. and Pro Tools is an awesome company... top notch people and products...

It will bend exactly like the 105 just bigger to give you ability to bend 2.5" tube and 2" Schd 40 pipe.

Thats the only advantage of the brute over the 105

I have the Pro Tool Godzilla notcher which has chewed up thousands of notches. In fact it has notched close to a 19 Moly sand car frames and suspensions. Good tools and good service as well.

Thanks for the replys folks. I've not been able to find anybody with any complaints. I'm going to pick up a Brute with 1-3/4, 2-1/4, and 2-1/2 dies this week. I'm also getting one of their hole saw style notchers. I'm hoping this will speed up our fabrication, we currently use pre-bent tubing and weld in the sections we need.

Has anybody bent any stainless with theirs?

I have, didn't really have any problems with it.

If you don't already know this. Lubing the tube is very important

The only complaint I have with my PT105 is that some of the backing blocks have a tendency to gall. It doesn't happen with all of my backing blocks, just some. I don't know if it is just that those particular ones have a different hardness than the others or what. I've been thinking of polishing out the bad ones and having them cryo'd. That should stop the galling. Other than that I've been pleased with my Pro Tools 105 tube bender.

Not to take away money from Pro Tools, but have you seen the Baileigh TN-250 notcher? IMO that notcher's the sh!t. Next time I have some tool funds available, I'll be getting one.

It looks like that notcher will allow you to "fine tune" the rotation for your cut? I could not find a price listed for it though and my guess is it's well over $600.00

Does the warranty not cover that?

That notcher will do most anything including notch within the radius of a bend. The video is cool to watch and see what it can do. Seems like when Baileigh first introduced them they were $500.00. I see Trick Tools has them for $600.00

I just did pick up my bender and got a tour of the plant, now I can't wait to get back to Texas and get some work done with it.

I asked Dean about your die issue, he suggested you give him a call. Let me know how that works out.

I took a bunch of pictures I'll share with my Shuttle launch pictures once I get back to Texas.

tho I haven't run the footage thru mine that the pro's have, I haven't had any galling issues.. but I did smooth and polish the following block while waiting to get my initial tube... the die, i've never touched...
