probably a stupid question but blinker bulb under dash..

Really, not that hard to replace bulbs. On my civilain truck, you take the 5 or 6 screws out of the gauge surround deal. Put truck in 1st year. Pull dash bezel out. Unscrew a couple of hex head bolts (IIRC), pop whole gauge unit out of dash. Theres one giant plug that comes unplugged when you pull it forward. Bulbs are on the back side, screw out of the unit with a 1/4 turn or something. Now, getting the bulbs is hard. Unless you want to solder bare bulbs into the little plastic housings.....some parts stores (napa and better) might have them thouhg.

ive gotten very good at swapping out those little bastigies. i dont know why i cant get the suckers to survive any length of time. reading that article on spray painting the reflectors however had one mention of a rather good idea.....

the blacklight installed under the dash overhang, getting the guages to glow...... a single uv bulb, wired to the interior lighting to come on when the lights are on. I think would work very well. I might be pricing out some UV bulbs. Dunno how that would effect eye strain at night though.....

If that dosnt work out, ill probably just do the LED conversion. and be done with it.

The bulbs pull out of the little black housing you twist out. They are the tiny corner marker light bulbs.

you can get your hand up behind and bend it in ways it isn't supposed to bend and get it out.

well its working again. MY parking brake does the same thing, works sometimes and not others. Im guessing i have ground issues, or the truck is developing its own personality

Probably the printed curcuit thats making poor contact with the bulb holder--common dilema on these trucks...
I can get my bony hands up in there to remove the bulb holders ,after contorting my body into a pretzel, its not easy, but can be done without yanking the cluster out..I also found I was able to reach them by pulling the glove box out and down out of the way too--but my arms are long, and it would have been easier if they were 6" longer still!.. I had to yank the "brake" light out of my 82 K2500,to get a sticker, the dam thing wont shut off!.

not being a jackass..... but that probably means theres an issue with your e-brake switch, or pedal assembly.

oh and i bought some blue LED's at advance auto parts the other day. I actually really like the way they light up the guages. its very "black light" like. the orange guages kinda flourese and the white glows kinda blue. But imma have to get creative with mounting them inside the cluster. mounting them in front like i planned dosnt work nearly as well as id like.
