little help please,
after an afternoon of wheeling, i drove home jus fine, parked the truck, and noticed the next day when i took it down the street i was limping, to a point i had to bring it back home cuz it was so annoying. (limping like a biasply flat spot that has been sitting for months) but this "thump thump" never went away after a mile or so.

granted i was a little tough on her out in the woods, i have a bent rim (did not lose any air) and some trail rash, but i wouldnt think the bent rim would make it drive like this.

i can tell you this, the thump is in succession with the rotation of the tires, so ofcourse the thumping increases as my speed does.

i know i am in dyer need of a kingpin rebuild, but this limping around is alittle more pronounced than any previous time i have delt with (flatspots or deathwobble)

anyone experience this b4??:dunno:

78 k10 1tons and 40's are some basic specs

forget to air one tire back up?
a slow leak will make the flat spot more exaggerated, but should go away.

all good ideas, i will do the switcheroo this weekend and check stuff out further.
i did however go under and put a heavy hand on every component i could, so yes i am hoping that my bent rim is my prollem, although i could not bang it back with my hammer.
i need a bigger freagin hammer:doah:

If you are sure the problem was not there when you drove home, then it pretty much had to happen while it was sitting.

So the bent rim and mud in the wheels is unlikely to be the problem.
About the only things that would happen sitting still are a slow air leak, or a belt letting go inside the tire.

I'd check the air first.

I have seen belts broken inside of tires, and they made all kinds of noises. Plus the vehicle usually pull slightly to the side of the bad tire if its on the front.

Usually you break a belt when you hit something, but you could have damaged it on a rock or stump and it held together until you parked it.

My guess would be a broken belt in a tire - or some nasty chunking. It's also possible you have something stuck in the tread - like a mud or rocks or a Civic.

I had an issue like this, but I've never taken mine off-road. Mine was after a hard left turn at slow speed. The U-joint at the wheel was on the verge of locking up. It thumbed something fierce, and that was all it took to make the issue, and all I had to do to fix it.

Hope that helps.

well i found that my d/s front shock bushing had dryed up and cracked into pieces, leaving alot of play obvioulsy.

changed out the bushing, and all good.

im surprised that the shock was the culprit:confused:

glad i found it though, crap like that will driveya nuts:screwy:
