Got a buddy wants me to look over this ride w him.
guy is asking $25k, and for my buddy he’s only up for minor maintenance and upkeep type stuff.
dont really know much more than what the pics show. The truck is an older restomod, but looks well kept.
so where are the problem areas at on these 2 wd trucks?

It looks like either a factory big block truck, or they used an original power steering pump and reservoir for a big block. Alternator brackets as well.
Also looks to have gotten a front disc conversion while keeping 6 lug. Note the aftermarket booster and adjustable proportioning valve. It also has aftermarket column and intermediate shaft, which is good since an original '67 to '68 had a one piece shaft from the rag joint to the steering wheel.

As far as problem areas, check the firewall at the base of the cowl, the complete windshield frame, the kick panels/ footwell, rockers from underneath, cab supports and corners, and the lower corners of the doors where the inner and outer skins are close together. The lower flange of the door will also tell.
Initially, that looks like a good deal from what I have seen lately. The small back window isn't everyone's favorite, but I wouldn't care. I have seen listings for small block trucks higher than that, with no A/C, and long bed.

Speaking of that, check the frame to see if it was cut down from a long bed. Look under the cab for a splice. (It looks like a short bed to me)

At least it doesn't have the Rockwell transfer case!!

@6872xtc hit just about all of the problem rust areas. Check the core support under the battery tray. Both rear cab corners can also hide rust due poor water drainage. Also look over the drip rails from both doors and around the windshield

The side view mirrors aren't right. Shouldn't be on the windshield frame. The purists will make noise about that. But if they work, and he likes them there....

Couple of things jump out at me in the engine compartment: the inline fuse on the fender (what's it powering) and the black thing just behind or to the right of the battery with the red wire coming off of it (I can't tell what that is)

From what I see, it's body lines are nice and straight and its a nice looking truck for the price.

Not just dual quads, dual Edelbrock 1406 quads. That junk would hit FB marketplace faster than changing the station on a Journey song
Yeah, cuz holley carbs are so driver friendly..
Nope.

Single Holley would be way better than that used toilet paper Edelbrock sells

Ehhh, I tried a couple of Holley carbs. Even tried my best to get them to quit running too rich everywhere but WOT.
Gave up and now use the 750 Edelbrock works very well and does turn the plugs black. Might give up some on top end, yes, no black plugs or finicky power valves, which means I can drive the truck whenever I want!
:saweet:
I guess that I should call the Holley something derogatory to follow your lead...

Yeah those Holleys must be hard to tune, that’s why you see so many at the race tracks

There’s even a book or twelve. But reading is hard, too

Yup, read some of that. Wasn't going to the track every time I drove the truck.

Great info guys. Ill make a list. Any concerns of the frame @ steering box?
I thought it looked pretty decently done, and a good deal for 25k. I just hope it isn't somebody else's problems he wants.

Don't commonly see the issues on the frame at the box due to it not being 4x4. That said, chevy frames are meh

Yup. Never found a problem with a C10. Even my Dad's old '72 with a K10 swap was fine with only 31" tires.

I like the buddy bucket seat too, even though they look aftermarket. Also looks like aftermarket electric windows, shoulder harness seat belts. A lot of aftermarket options to get it where the owner wanted it. Wonder if they upgraded to disc brakes (license plate says it's a 67).

Don't think 67 had the side marker lights/reflectors (like the front clip here) but the bed does, so guessing that is from another year.

You are correct about the side markers on '67 trucks. I did have a early '68, made in '67 that was missing them.
Nice catch on the bed having them, I hadn't looked that far, my attention was on other stuff.

Looked at the truck tonight, and 95% of it looks real good. Thanks to you guys for the hotspots to look at.
It has a 396/325 hp, T400 w shift kit, 3.42 non posi truck 12 bolt.
underbody looked pretty solid. Originally a stepside truck. Bottoms of doors and cab corners have been mudded before, but this paint is 15 yrs old and it shows 2 small bubbles on the door bottoms. Runs good, has a 1500-5500 cam in it. Complete rebuild in 2000, and about 12-15k on that. Complete wiring harness, newer weatherstrip everywhere, and all the glass is scratch free. He has a book full of receipts and a log of when he did what to it. biggest downfall, is rhe throttle lonkage only allows about 1/4 throttle, so that would need to be looked at, and no A/C. My buddy wants a cruiser, so that might come into play.
All in all, its worth the 25k asking, and he’s going to put it on marketplace soon. My buddy has to talk to the wife….lol
