i just bought a 1990 burb 4x4 with the 350 backed with a 700r4.

stock on 33's.

i drove it a bit and theres a hell of a metallic rattle up front when going over bumps or a sharp turn, and the front seems to wander a good bit.

now a few questions.

how much lift to clear 38 iroks (with bushmaster cut out flares)

what kind of mileage can i expect from this truck with 38's (what should i re gear to) this is my new daily driver.

stock axles ok on 38's (nothing xtreme light trails little mud)

is snagging the efi of a old camaro worth the trouble to do.

pics of line x'ed floors and burbs on 38's would be much apreciated

i know the rule of thumb is stock 10bolts should be good up to 35s, but i also know alot of people wheel with bigger tires and stock 1/2 tons. Also stupid question but did you take a look underneth her? check to see if anythings loose, jump on the bumper and see what noises its making, have a friend do it take a peak under?

Was it in an accident?

You should already have EFI (Throttle Body Injection). 87 and up Trucks, Blazers, Subs are fuel injected.

Check to make sure the frame is not cracked where the steering gear unit bolts to the frame. It is a common problem and makes similar noise to what you describe. Even if it is not cracked you will need a steering gear brace if you are going to run 38" tires.

38" are a lot of tire for 10 bolts. But if you are very easy on them they may not break if you cross your fingers. I would go 4.56 or larger for the gears. You need to be running around 2000 RPM at 65 on the highway in OD if you dont want to toast the tranny. Or dont use OD if you dont change the gears.

Depends on how much you want to cut. Check the sticky at the top of the garage that discusses lift/tire size, Blazers and Subs use the same fenders and need to be cut the same amount.

10-12, 5.38 gears.

Maybe offroad if you're easy on it, you will go through ball joints and wheel bearings quickly on the road.

Nope

i got 38.5 bogger's on my burban. stock axles right now i am getting 10mpg highway
you will have to trim the front fenders. cut the front bottom and trim the rear back some
body mount's are a common problem with them.

i dont have fender flares and run 37" iroks on a 6" lift but i dont' flex much so there isn't a rubbing concern..you should be fine with the fender flares and a nice 6" lift

don't regear if your going to run 38"s just find a nice set of either 3/4 tons or 1 tons with the proper gears (4.88 or 4.56) which is what i have to do myself, and it is worth the money then regear ****ty 10 bolts

i wouldn't, you'll blow them apart they aren't worth building either, consider them scrap metal

that i'm not sure about, doens't seem like it is or more people would be doing it, but you can always try.

Another cars efi wont match your motors specs and will run worse. TBI is afussy system with little lee-way. Best bet is to burn a new chip if you mod the motor, otherwise stock is fine.

I'd definatly get 1tons for 38's. Find a set of CUCV 1tons they come with 4.56's and a rear locker. Although you probably need more than 4.56's for an auto and 38's. 5.13's will work.
