truck died on me the other day after a hard start at a gas station.

Was getting no voltage to the pump (tan/white stripe)

So i hooked a jumper to it at the fuse panel, and the pump is running.

BUT the truck will not start, there is no one here to crank it for me so i can't check spark but I am going to say there is none, since i sprayed some quick start in the intake.

Is this the relay? or the hot fuel module (what ever the hell that is)

thanks dave

A bad ignition module will also kill the fuel pump. I lean towards either a bad ignition module or pick-up coil. Obviously you need to first verify that you do not have spark.

OK the wife is home but now it is dark, so testing will have to wait.

I am 99% sure there is no spark, lets just say there is none, what is my next step?

I am so frustrated right now with so many things, I don't even want to deal with this, so any help is much appreciated.

Generally speaking, no spark, you've got something wrong with your ignition circuit. Modules are the common culprit, but you've got a coil, pickup coil, cap, rotor that can be bad.

Cap/rotor, if they look good, they are.

The reason your fuel pump isn't working right is because the ECM is not getting a spark signal. It won't fire the injectors and the pump will never come on. You can verify the no injector pulse simply with a test light if you really need to, but if the pump runs, and it won't even turn over with starting fluid, ignition is the likely culprit.

Don't just throw parts at it. (Unless they are Delco :)) If you are frustrated with things right now, spend $100 on parts that don't fix the problem and see how you feel. :)

It was the coil, got one off a buddy to see, and she started up, so that is out of the way.

thanks brothers
