I have a 1997 Chevy Silverado 2500 2wd with a 350 automatic. It has about 185,000 miles on it, Ive had no problems out of it until now. Yesterday I noticed it is using more gas than normal, It doesnt feel like it has as much power, I floored it and it just didnt accelerate as normal until I let of the gas pedal a little, then it took off and shifted as normal, the transmission was also acting up. could this be a throttle position sensor? any other suggestions? any help would be appreciated.

I had a similar problem w/ my 98 k1500. I did a full tune up,cap rotor plugs wires coil. don't know if that help's but that's what i did. fixed it immediately. I had auto zone read the codes came up with 4 of them, tune up was the only one that made sense to me

Just did the tune-up on mine about a month ago. Minus the Cap and rotor. When i got the lift i went from 17-16 mpg
Now i'm lucky to get 11-12. No idea why. Got a fuel filter, cap and rotor so i'll see how that plays out

If so no. I was getting 16 for a good month afterwards. Then it dropped occasionally. No idea why. Pisses me off though.
I mean i could understand if it dropped after i got it back but it was declining the whole time

I wouldn't recommend that if your truck is 96 and up.
MIL will come on for cat deterioration.
