Problem with headlites

I just bought an '87 chevy custom delux pickup and i installed the whole front-clip off my old '73 K5 on it.When i turn on the headlites only the driver side bulb works,but when i click on the brites the driver-side bulb shuts off and the passenger side turns on.Anyone have any ideas???Any help will be greatly appreciated. ~Eric

Before you spend much time troubleshooting the wiring, make sure that you are using 2 good headlights. It could something as simple as one light having a burned out low beam filament, while the other one has the high beam burned out.

I always seem to have problems with the sealed beam sockets. They corrode too fast. Check the connections to the headlights, and make sure headlight filaments are good (test on battery). Then maybe look at switch. Then trace wires, might be corrosion there too. Just start elimiating one by one.

It's not the switch, as the lights are wired in parallel. One wire feeds both low beams, one wire feeds both high beams. Neither side would work if the switch was hosed...

i fu have an ohm meter test em, or use a juper and test it that way, so u dont waist money imo
