I have a set of Victor gauges that I bought about five years ago and I finally got some tanks and a cart etc recently. I have used the setup a few times with no issues. The last couple times I used it, on the oxygen regulator, I would turn the tank on and turn the regulator knob to bring the pressure up and nothing would happen until a point, then it would go thunk and 10psi would show on the gauge. It would function correctly after that--smooth adjustment of pressure etc. Yesterday, I turned the tank on and turned the regulator knob in and thunk, 10 psi, same as usual--but--now when pressure is adjusted, torch valve opened, pressure will drop due to the valve being open and thunk, the regulator thunks and the pressure rises back to the initial setting, then repeat and repeat... I continued and lit the torch, adjusted the flame, but the o2 regulator will surge i.e. the regulator thunks, evens out, thunks again etc, etc. The flame reacts in unison with the noise. Other than having sat in their original packaging for a few years the regulators (and everything else) are new.

Any ideas??

Well, see the problem is that your regulator has a *thunk* in it. You should probably fix the *thunk*

:rotfl:

Seriously though, I wouldn't use that regulator. It definitely sounds like it's internal to the regulator and that's not something I'd want to take apart. Call Victor and see what they say.
