Problem with this? *pics*=UPDATE=

If those are new manufatctired yokes id run one in 1350 and u bolts. If they are stock ones machined i would not run one. i stand by on saying that they loose a considerable amount of strength when machined. The ideal way to go is 1410 and ubolts imo.

When i needed a yoke i got in contact with jesse and he said not to bother. the 2 reason wer 1. his supplier was having problems with turn around time and 2 your just moving the weak point from one place to another. Id personally rather break a strap than a yoke...

Either way that doesnt solve his problems. the yoke is not wahats causing this. The straps (if they are the correct ones, they should be from a dealer only, all others do not work) are not the problem... Its seems to be the joint...

inch and an 8th is what i get for a measurement on the cap of the U-joint that goes in the 14BFF yoke...

If you measured the jojn at 1 1/8th " then theres your problem a 14 bolt yoke accepts a cap of 1 3/16".

you can drill out the threads and get u-bolts if you dont want straps. I know a couple people who have done that with no problems.

This doesnt work
1. the u joint isnt long enough to get nuts on
2. the back of the yoke is not flat, a nut will not sit on it, this is why it HAS to be machined to fit a u joint.

Didn't want anyone getting confused. :wink1:

UPDATE"""""""

ok I took out the joint at the driveshaft... 1 3/16''...... sooo I did get a 447 conversion joint... BUT, when i put the joint in the 1/8'' side did not fit in the driveshaft. it just wobbled around in there... so i dont need a conversion joint? I need a 1350 one side 1350 other side? what trucks had this? it is a stock shaft! and when i did the conversion i coulda swore the emblems said K10 and it had 1/2 ton axles//// what is up?

When I was reading that your d/s caps were larger I knew what was wrong. I'd wager a weeks pay your truck is lifted. I'd wager the next weeks pay that the guy you bought your truck from shorted a 1-ton d/s and that's why you need a 1350, because while your d's is stock all parts involved are not stock for your truck. P/S. you can't have my money if your wrong. lol

Truck is lifted. I'm the one that lifted it. The guy i bought my truck from was my dad... he custom ordered the truck from the factory in 1984 (its an 85). So it is stock 1/2 ton shafts... so it looks like i beat you one you beat me one so no money is transferred! haha

Really? I have looked at and worked on dozens of 465 equipped 1/2 tons and every one was 1350 u-joints.

Did yours come with the 208 transfer case? That could be a factor

I have only worked on Chevy 208's so I think that is part of the 465/208 = 1350 equation.

Every 205 I have touched or rebuilt was in a ford or a dodge.

Well, (my chance to be like house the doctor) boils down to the fact that you have a 1-ton d/s and a 1-ton axle, no matter what you say. :dunno: You know the problem now so fikit. :p:
And cudo's to you, I just read my message and knowing what I wanted to say I couldn't understand it. You speak fluid "chris", as I say in life.

lol, now i need to get to napa and get another u-joint. Anyone want to buy a conversion joint that has about 20 miles on it?

I bet napa does. Did you walk in and tell them you wanted and XYZ or did you tell them what you had and they told you? Either way just try an exchange...

Looks like you figured it out. As I was reading I was thinking you had a 4 speed. You should just need a 135o joint.

It has always had a 205.
