Problems 86k5 and the snow Just hit

My plow vechicle is down once it gets dark out because I have no tail lights.....Does anyone have any quick ideas or suggestions for chasing down why the fuse T/L CTSY 20amp keeps blowing.......I checked all tail light bulbs and they are good..... What else is on the circuit?

Check for a bad wire. I had this same problem. I think a wire got pinched in the tailgate and it stripped off some insulation. Every once in a while it would hit ground and blow the fuse.

Still out of action

I chased the tail gate wiring down and all is well.... The neighbor made it home and he was behind the truck....I have brak lights no taillights....I have also narrowed down that if the head light switch is in the off position I can have a fuse in and it does not blow....when I pull the headlight switch out towards the on position the fues pops immediatly.........Any ideas?? Is the headlight switch shorted causing the problems?? Is there a way to test this switch or just go throw one it in?

do any of the other lights go out? eg, the front parklights and side markers? or just the taillights? there might be a bad wire near the front of the rig thats wore out.

check the trailer light wiring, take apart the connections, clean them.
Should be right behind the hitch.

Great place for moisture to accumulate.....

I had a problem similar to that and it was a problem with my tag light wire grounding out....go figure.

X2. I recently had the same problem, but it was the brake lights. I had one of those lighted caps on my flat-four connector, it corroded and shorted out and looked like it had actually been on fire
