i've been working on my 82 blazer for the past two weeks. used all wiring and parts from an 88 chevy truck. i have replaced the fuel pump 12 psi all the time, distributor, msd coil, plugs, wires, cap, fuel filter, and coolant temp sensor. it will fire right up but after a couple minutes the engine will idle down like its going to die then run normal. i did notice if i turn the distributor with the engine off, just ignition on, the fuel injectors will click and spray a short burst of fuel. anyone have any ideas? i forgot to mention this is all with the power wires going directly to the battery and not ignition.

The reason your injectors click like that is because they are timed off the ignition pickup in the distributor. As for the idle air valve, check online for ways to test it. I've not done it myself but I'm sure there are plenty of people who have. If you have a running truck with TBI around, pull the valve off it and see if it helps!

after a couple minutes you are probably getting into closed loop and the tune in the chip is taking over (think the choke coming off). I would look into running the WinALDL program and logging some data to see if you're rich/lean. ALso, there is good information on the binder planet forums in the injection section under FAQ's. There are some initial setup procedures and voltage checks you might wanna try.

yes i unplugged the timing connector. it did not seem to make a difference when i unplugged it and set the timing.

well last night i decided to look more closely at fuel injectors and regulator. lost an oring, now i'm waiting on whole oring kit with gasket and regulator diaphragm. also i have a crane 4x4 cam with edelbrock intake and adaptor. would that have any affect on the surging. before taking off the fuel injectors last night it started cutting out.
