Tired a search for this info and suprisingly there was nothing.....

The passanger side axle tube is bleeding pretty bad. Does anyone know the P/N for that axle seal?

Also, if i had the gears redone and paid for a master install kit from Yukon, would this seal have been replaced??

Any place that does a gear install, should have replaced that seal.. for my friends hp60 we had to go through 6 states to get them axle seals, do you guys have a six states distributors, down there?

oh yea i forgot to ask, Have you replaced one of those before? your gonna have to take the axle shafts out of both sides, remove the carrier, and use a long ass pole to tap that seal in there.

Although it makes sense to replace the differential seals when the gears are replaced, I don't think any of the master install kits include these seals. I doubt they were replaced with your gears.

Six States has them for $5.46 a side. The spicer pn is 36487. If you have a Checker or one of their sister stores they sell chicago rawhide and they are the exact same part. The last spicer seals I got were exactly the same as the Chicago Rawhide seals right down to the CR stamped on the metal. Plus they are made in the US.

One question -- is it leaking from the end of the axle tube, or is it bleeding between the differential housing and the axle tube?

on corporate front ends and D44's we call that the self oiling ball joint option and on D60's the self oil kingpin option /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

As for the question of should they have been replaced.....YES.
Do most places do it.......NO.
The sad part is the seals are cheap and a PITA to get to, so when the carrier and axles are out for a gear change, they should be redone (even if only a few hundred miles on them). When you change them, you should be able to tell if the existing ones are new or not (or if they were installed incorrectly....mishapen from being hit too hard/incorrectly).

Good luck.

so it all has to come out?? that sucks....it's only leaking at the very end....

But the seal is in the center section, just outboard of the carrier bearing.

Getting to the seals is not that bad, getting them out is a major PIA without a seal puller, minor PIA with. I replaced both of mine not too long ago. Pull axles out, pull the carrier out, pull seals out, replace...
