So I stumbled across this truck on CL and called on it 2 days after i found it just to see what the story was.

The PO didn’t know much about it but he purchased it as a drivable rig but tore the top of the engine apart to “clean it up” and never put it back together. It sat for a few years and his wife wanted it gone. He ended up low balling himself and told me a price I couldn’t refuse. So i ended up going to pick it up.

Specs:
350
700R4
NP208 - recently rebuilt
3.73 gears
Dana 60 front - open
14BFF unsure if it has a G80 or open
BDS springs front and rear, i think 4” lift? I haven’t run the part numbers yet.
Rancho adjustable shocks
Steering box weld in plate, no brace
Original Warn bumper
Tom Woods Driveshafts
33” tires

Tub has ZERO rust

Does not have seats. I’m kind of kicking myself for just recently selling the seats out of the 1990.

I’m going to try and get it running again with the parts i currently have and see where that gets me. If I can’t, I’ll most likely part it.

Now for some pictures!

Looking at this engine bay and all of the vacuum lines for the smog stuff has my head spinning. I figured i would install the original carb and take each line one hose at a time. I came across this diagram, does this seem right? Any tips as i dive into this?

Do what I was going to do.
Put tbi on it and get it refereed.
85 and 86 is the worst to pass smog when everything is still there and unmolested, it's almost impossible once you mess with it, and why?
Tbi is better easier and parts are plentiful

Both times my 85 failed smog as carbed was do to evap system at tank. The last time was by .01, was allowed .10 and measured .11.

Has to be factory TBI for 87 to 95 to be legal in Calif. No after market FI legal to be used per the Air Resources Board of Calif

That's what I was talking about.
Used tbi is cheap enough, proven to work and is guaranteed to be legal.
I happen to have a full setup coming out of my suburban when I go bbc 454 so I don't have to even buy it
