Project "Chica Blanca" 72 Restomod

Nice work, she was pretty nice in the normal rusty areas. Great start keep us posted, mine was far worse in those areas where you just fixed. I'd hang my front fenders and see what the gap looks like. heck put the front end back together

I have some new body mounts to put in before I weld in the outer rockers and plan to set the fender before I do that. Then once I fix the other side the body is coming of the frame.

Ok gentlemen I have the new radiator support and mounts installed and front fender hanging, gaps look really good. I was wondering what your thoughts are considering the outer rocker seams. I was thinking about welding them up in the jam and rear of the rocker where it meets the lower B pillar, of course grind smooth when complete . What is your thoughts Yes/No? My 2014 sierra rocker is similar. Seamless in the rear of the rocker and gaped at the door/fender. What say you?

Would be concerned about it cracking with body flex in that area. But if it’s reinforced in some other way, might be ok.

Impressive start, the only thing I would have done different, in the footwell is take the cut up another inch and used the factory seam. I hope you can take constructive comments well, not meant to down grade your efforts as the work looks top notch, keep on going and post lots of pics.

Always open to constructive comments, that's how we learn from others. I don't want to make the mistake if you already have.

The only reason I was even that high wasn't because of rust but that I didn't want to butt weld in the radius of the panel. And the new panel conture was not even close.

I plan on doing the driver side a bit different and go all the way to the seam in the corner an stay low across the floor.

Thanks to all

Just wanted to check in and let everyone know progress is being made slowly. I have started the driver side and have found the outer rocker to be a real P.I.T.A. Both driver and passenger sides won't lineup with the bottom edge of the door no matter how the door is adjusted. What did you do to get the fit right? I tried to section the panel and honestly it looked like crap.20190915_083723.jpg 20200101_142336.jpg 20200217_082501.jpg
