Well guys I guess it's my turn to share. I have been lurking for awhile and have stole plenty ideas from you all. This is my 3rd first gen Blazer and wanted to go a different route as far as drive train goes. I picked this Blazer up from my Chiropractor which he purchased new. It has been nice having a Blazer that has not been messed with all mainly original parts and the factory wiring harness has not been touched. The current plan is to add: 5.9 Cummins, NV4500, 205, Dana 60, 14 bolt rear. I gave $1500 for this Blazer and drove it home! The best part bringing it home was when people saw me coming I'm sure they thought I had no insurance. It was quite ugly but I didn't care I was in first gen Blazer again! These pics it they upload are the day I wrapped it out of the tarp and headed home. I know you guys will be hitting me up for the bumpers! Ha.

Dibs on the front bumper. :deal: I need some more scaffolding for a job coming up. :tongue1:

Cool to see another 1st gen join in on the fun. :waytogo:

Have you started on anything yet?

Any pics of the last two blazers? We like pics... :haha:

oh, and I found a pic of that front bumper in a different application:

:haha:

Welcome man:waytogo: I can't wait to see this progress along. I was tempted by the cummins too, but Imma stick with lighter in this thing. Maybe when I do a crew down the road I'll do a oil burner. Keep us updated!

Thanks guys, I have plenty of pictures I have started the project I have PMed Greg and Moses Burb on a few items. Then Greg groin shotted me this morning on a thread so I started one. Thanks Greg for motivation! I have started the build I bolted the Dana 60 in last night. I have a ORD rear shackle flip kit and rear springs to install this weekend. Right now I fighting factory rivets on the rear brackets fun stuff! To be honest I got frustrated and moved back to the front! I do have pics of the last two also one 72 Blazer and one 72 Jimmy (should of kept)! I have some more pic of when I got it home and cut off bumpers they were welded to the frame. Brutal. I buffed the paint and can't believe how good it came out and how straight it was under all the BS. Sorry if I screw up a post or two trying to get this down. Will post more pics.

Norcal I think I'm sold on your scaffolding job! Love the pics. I swear I grabbed a 3" lift after that bumper came off! I do hope that it can stay under the first gen thread but if it needs to move so be it.

Wow, that really did buff out nice!:eek1: Is the underside as clean as that? If so I hate you a little for only paying $1500 for it:haha:

As for the placement of the build thread, leave it here. The cool kids leave their first gen builds in here:pimp:

Definitely a nice score for $1500, paint looks good.

Funny how a simple "Pics or BAN!" message can really motivate people!! :haha:

I don't know if anyone noticed, but our new friend joined back in September 2011....paid his membership $$$ and posted exactly ZERO times until today.

Sorry for the rough start on your 1st CK5 thread :doah:, for the record let me clear the air on a couple of things:

1st Gen Forum - As the name implies, it's for the guys from 1969-1972. We are a largely ignored population by the larger K5 community, not for spiteful reasons but because a lot of the stuff we deal with is unique to these early trucks. Ten years ago, if you were to post a 1st Gen question in the general forums it would be wiped down the page almost instantly by the questions about the later model trucks. It became really hard to get "views" on a 1st Gen specific thread, and even harder to get help on those issues that were unique to our trucks.

So we finally got permission to do our own forum. It didn't really have much traffic... but eventually the early truck enthusiasts found their way over here and we started to build a good knowledge base of specialty information. By CK5 standards, it's not a fast-moving forum.... but for the guys that come here on a daily basis, it's a great way to get access to answers that most people (aka: later model K5 guys) just don't care that much about.... if you want to do your build thread here, please do. There is NO rule that demands the builds go into "The Driveway" section.... you'll get more views there (maybe) but your audience will be the entire CK5 community. For a diesel swap, that might be a good thing... not too many 1st Gen guys have diesel motors. (BTW -> I can move your thread anywhere you want it to go, just ask.)

FOR SALE / WANTED - One of the other "waivers" that Steve has allowed in this forum (now that it's a paid member area) is the ability to post FOR SALE or WANTED items here directly instead of in the general FOR SALE forums. The stuff the 1st Gen guys sell (or need to buy) is also pretty specialized, and the fast-moving forums tend to sweep us away..... SO, if you want a 1st Gen part just ask for it here. The other members will help you find it. If you've got a 1st Gen-specific part to sell you can put it up here as well.... odds are, somebody else will need it (except maybe those locomotive bumpers! :haha:)

Anyway, as we always say.....welcome to the insanity. Welcome to the dark side...... the cookies are delicious, and you'll find plenty of people here willing to help you through the rough patches of your build.

Thanks Greg understood now. I will just continue on the 1967-72 side of things then. Maybe delete out of the Driveway? Anyway more pics!

As you guys all know I am open to all suggestions, Or my very dangerous roller jack stand combo! I've never had one this far apart so let it rip!

Subscribed, Try and loose me now lol.

That looks like a nice rig, it really cleaned up nice :thumb:

looking good man! glad greg "motivated" you to finally start posting pics since you've obviously been working on this thing awhile. :P

btw, you must be a genius with a buffer considering how shiny that paint turned out after looking at those first few pics.

...hmmm, I wonder what the forum policy is on me lobbying to make you move this thread back to the driveway (and then back again) for my own amusement.

WOW! A guy can't go camping with out internet for a second around here. Welcome and yes what a score $1500. Nice paint and what LOOKS like no visible rust. Now a torque monster diesel in the works NICE! I'm in

You have internet at the dunes!?!? Awesome!!! :thumb:

1. Haters gonna Hate....You just Keep this thing where it belongs, In our home away from home, The 69-72 area!

2. Cannot wait to see this thing progress. The Cummins idea has bounced in my head as a cool "what if" since Mooseburb did his, Glad to see you do it in a k5.

3. Do you think the engine weight will be enough to fix that front shackle angle?

4. Rolling Jackstands, ha ha...They scare me. If for no other reason than if you get hurt...We dont get anymore updates, ha ha.

5. Did I say I cant wait for more updates yet?:waytogo:

No sweat Ryoken...been there! As far as first gen guys weird I would have to agree we are kinda partial! Ha.
After having a couple small block Blazers I'm ready for something a little more extreme but damn it's alot of extra work! There will be plenty of boxing of the frame taking place soon. I'm really focusing on getting it into a roller at this point and have plenty of cleaning to do yet.
