RubberFloorMat submitted a new Build:

Project Full Frontal

So last summer I traded my Softail deluxe for a clean 75 full top, previous owner bought it out of AZ.

Has a vortec headed 355, sm465 and stock axles. He did a lot of good work and the truck has zero rust on the floors I went over it with a fine tooth comb.

He swapped in a 85 grill and front clip because he graduated in 85.

It’s currently in paint jail.

So I spent about 8 months collecting parts and tweaking things to my taste, scored some wheels, the proper front clip with new hood, some other bits and peices.

I haven’t decided what to do interior wise as it’s in very good shape. My big find was a NOS Warn Classic bumper from a member on here. Great Guy.

Round eye. I’m going for a mid to late 70’s build, slot mags, period correct off road bumpers, old school KC’s 74 grill etc

The original color is moss gold which I’ve talked about in other threads but my paint guy did a spray out and I wasn’t enthusiastic. Too much gold so I’m going with a custom green gold color. It should be similar to this when done.

So my body man is a 35 year guy with a small custom shop, he owns several squares himself.

Got started on the body work in late March.

My buddy in WI took his two squarebody trucks to a friend of a friend in Arkansas to have them painted and rust fixed one at a time. They were literally there for years. He was way too nice and would never call the guy or anything since he was getting such a "great" deal on it. He would just wait and wait and wait and send some money to the guy every once in a while and wait for updates.

Yeah that won’t be happening, shop is right around the corner from my work. He told me 6 months. The whole front clip is all new roundeye sheetmetal and doors are pristine. He’s one of those guys that can’t tell people no, so he ends up doing tons of little stuff for people. I’ll go get the damn thing if it’s there a day past August.

Nope. The firewall has color on it, the front clip is getting cut in and mounted soon.

Had some hidden issues that needed more attention such as some frame cracks that were improperly repaired requiring the brace to be removed, welded and new bracing.

Also there were two holes in the cowl when it was converted for the hinges that were filled and welded and the holes for the power window and lock pass through a to the doors that were redone. Also some minor stuff on the door areas.

I cannot complain about the quality of the metal work or body work whatsoever, my only compliant is that when you are told it will take A to get it done and it goes 7 months past that, you’ll be Unhappy
