So here we go a new build thread.
I recently purchaced a 78 k20
Sm465 205 d44 14 bff
Against the wishes of my wife I might ad.
Krusty is very well Krusty it has rotted floor pans rockers and cab corners but I'm in luck it already had a 4 inch lift 37 inch hummer take offs and all the options I wanted for a nice weekend wheeler. Accept the d60. My plans are simple. Replace the motor with one without a bent rod. Put 56" front leafs on the front 64's out back longer shocks front and rear and twin stick the 205. Plus some sheet metal "mods". Also some bumper and rock slider work. Probably also a homemade bed and some other crawler friendly mods. I'm on a tight budget so it might take a while. Pics of when I first got her home and imediatly painted the wheels od green from the nasty crap white they were and changed the mirrors to the larger better viewing kind.

Sounds like a good plan! You will need 5 posts before you can post pics.

The best front end GM ever produced. Period. Nice ride, and I am planning on cutting my 91 in the front like that, tires keep kissing my radiator mounts and stuff, to expensive of a tire to waste on cheap stamped steel.

Where at in Hellinois are you located, Im sorta by the lovely ESL. :haha:

I have managed to stock pile a wide assortment of old GM parts, motors and parts, trannys, t-cases, axles and the like, if you need something, I might have it, just ask. Between me, my brother, my cousin, and several of my friends, we have went through these trucks like bar skanks in the local dive.

And inner fenders, trash em. They slow you down in the 1/4 mile.

I live in Waterloo where do u live 454? I do need a hood and a fan shroud . Pm me if u got nething

Ha, close as hell. I live in Freeburg.

My buddy has a hood he might come off of, Il ask him. I have a shroud that should fit, its a one piece one correct? Il have to search it out. But, if your interested, you could just go to the junkyard and pull a Ford Windstar elec fans, built in shroud and all. I used one in my Suburban. Way better than that mechanical fan pos. I can explain to you how to wire it and all if you would like. Its so much better, you would have to build your own mounts, I made some out of a sheet of 22 gauge steel I had in the garage, super simple. Plus they move more air than factory. If you really wanted to simplify your motor, you could go serpentine at the same time, and clean up all that v-belt ugliness. Junkyards are a wonderful thing for that type of stuff, and your not to far from Speedway by the old Granite City racetrack. Thats where I go for all my stuff, plenty of trucks and such to chop up. My buddy has a 76 we are about to do this to, as soon as I finish up working over his 8.1L.

Def need the hood and the shroud wanna get it running again before i do ne upgrades. Got a 86 350 with 50,000 original miles going in it soon. I'm gunna clean up the engine bay this weekend. Pm me with some prices on that hood and shroud. Where do u guys wheel around here?

We mostly mud anymore. We have a pond in Freeburg, we have some property in Du Quoin, but mostly we have to go to MO. Like Buchanans, St Joe St Park, Custom Differentials Mudfest thing. Its ok, kinda sucks, but its the best we got at the moment. Actually we always stop at that Mcdonalds in Columbia when we are heading out to them mudbogs, usually 20 to 30 of us with various trucks and such.

Mud is fun when warm weather comes we should meet up for day and post pics on here. I have plans to go to the superlift park in Arkansas in June when my plant shuts down for a week. Me and.my dad r going. We should get some guys together to go down. Have u heard of Midwest mud hawgs in prairie du rocher? I went there last year.

When you said plant, first thing that crossed my mind was Prairie State Energy Campus, or as those who have worked there, Prairie State Penitentiary. :haha: Lol, that place was horrible. Used to drink in all them bars down there, well actually almost every bar in St Clair and Monroe counties, haha. Age, kids and the new lady have slowed that down a lot though. Im always down to hang out and do some wheeling, soon as mine is ready to go.

Never been to either one, couple my friends been to the Mud Hawgs one, heard its a good time. Im gathering parts for my doubler, need all new driveshafts and mines ready to rock. Got to do some work to my buddys 76, my brother is almost done with his 6.0 swap in his 90 Sub, and my cousin almost has his 2002 Sub with 2.5tons ready to rock as well.

May 4th is a big bog in Misery, cant remember which one though, Im hopefully going to that one with a few people. Always a good time.

Somehow I.double posted. I'll take the shroud. I'd like to tag along in may. Let me know of ne other local stuff. What is.Buchanan's

Just basically a mudbog, same as Custom Differentials thing. Lots of trucks. usually over 1000 at either one. Good times for sure. If I remember right its like 20 a truck, or 10 a person. If your the driver of the truck, its just 20 for you, and that obviously includes truck. Its about 1.5hrs away though, so its kinda a day long adventure. But you will see some pretty neat stuff.

I had 2 square headlight ones this is my first round. I love.it a lot. I always wanted a round. I found this one cheap cheap cheap so.I.jumped on it.
