"PK5 RIPPER" submitted a new Build:

Project No Name..79 K5 Blazer..

I recently got a 79 k5 as a gift from my girlfriend..awesome girl by the way..both of them the blazer and the girlfriend!..anyways it has a 6 inch lift rolling on 35's and is virtually rust free..I can't find any anywhere..it has lockout hubs..power windows and door locks it even has AC..all new exhaust system with a new catalytic converter..rebuilt tranny with about 5 miles on it..new edelbrock carb..new distributer..all glass is good..one small dent but the charcoal paint is faded badly..I'm not digging the red interior but the girl likes it so what the heck..the tires are dry rotted so new 35×12.50 15 BFG Mud terrain are going on it in the next week or two..was going to get the ORD sway bar disconnect too..maybe the shackles too?..pics soon..thanks for looking.

Cool. Looking forward to pics!

Try driving without a sway bar first, just to see. I got rid of mine completely and don't miss it.

I tossed the sway bar, dont miss it.
Built my own shackles on my first rig.
Bought ORD this go round. DIY4x makes a similar product as ORD, both get good reviews

Other people would know more than me around here about shackles, but what makes you think they are a problem?

I'll upgrade mine if i screw them up. lol.

The stock ones are rather thin in my opinion and the ORD ones look way beefier..

Oh, they are definitely beefier. You certainly can't go wrong with ORD or DIY4X stuff.

They are 3/8" plate. You can make them too if you have a little bit of tools to cut and drill.

And yes, I have broken those.

Sweet rig and awesome girlfriend. I just found on my crew one of my front shackles was broke in half but still sitting perfectly in place so I bought some from Kurt at diy4x. Check your bushings in the hanger also because after I had ordered the shackles I found the other side had worn into the hanger some so bought new upper spring hangers and bushings as well. It also hasn't been wheeled since I've owned it other than a little bit of snow either.
