Nice! Looks good. Too good to monkey with if it were me. I would clean it up to showroom stockish, and drive it. I thought all of them out in that area rusted to the ground by now. Plenty of abused ones to build projects out of!

Its the same thing used to remove the gunk left on when you take off the trim on 80's pickups and k5's. It looks like a big yellowish.... well eraser. Similar material too.

As for the truck I am jealous,


The ex's dad has one the same color with the white top, he bought it new in 78. His is a 3/4 ton 4x4 and has been regeared and an overdrive trans swapped in, I want it bad for a weekend/spare/trash truck.

I know that this truck is ultra origonal BUT, i am being temped, I was contemplating converting it to 4x4. ORD cross over, i already have a new 205 in a crake still. And i have the axle. OPTIONS....

My opinion is,"you gota do that" very nice truck you got but, If you got the parts, the time and can do it...No brainer IMO, 4X4 ALL THE WAY!!

If you're thinking crossover, ur not thinking stock height it sounds
ur gunna have some haters, especially from the rust belt, if you start talkin big tires and cut fenders. You may find it stolen for your own good lol

You'd end up with a not correct K20ish that isn't truly a K20ish but is too nice to wheel. Find a good wheeling rig. Lots of folks in Michigan in tough times, bet you can find one.

I wasn`t thinking mud king or rock truck. I thought just a nice stockish looking 4x4.
Maybe a 2 inch lift and some factory steel wheels made to 8 by 16 and a set of 285`s.

Thats what I`d want.

I def. was not thinking of any sawing or hacking of this truck, i was just thinking a stockish looking 4x4 truck. Nothing huge, 2 inch lift or something, but again, i am in the rust belt and know that story and life this truck has lived and to change it so drasticly goes against myself also. Kind of torn, more leaning towards stock, but for sure I am going to clean this baby up and get her into even better shape, starting with the new interior, i already have got the chrome bumpers, and grill up, now im waiting to get my new euro lights, and marker lights.

i'd go mild stockish 4WD conversion. 32 or 33 tires and factory steel rims with hubcaps. i don't think it'd detract from the truck at all...

A little more done...Upgraded the lighting, new bumpers front a rear, new 3 inch exhaust w/tips.

I don't like to knock what others do to their ride. However the placement of those tailpipes totally take away from the style of that truck. Sorry, but it just doesn't look right. I would expect to see that on a slammed street rig.

if the license plate isn't going there, and a hitch will never be installed, I think it's a cool placement and unique

Also on a side note. I vote you may have some piston slap. My old mans got a 77 Camper Special with a 454 thats had piston slap while its started cold, once it warms up it quietens right down. Truck has around 90 000 miles on it now and hasnt missed a beat yet.
