Here I go again, everyone cross your fingers that I get somewhere on this project!

First I have to rewire the general and swap some body parts for my dad to aquire all my junk back.

SO I will start with what I will have.
1985 blazer frame that needs a few repairs and additions.
1978 K20 with low milage 454 and th400/203 (engine) body no good
1983 k20 diesel bad engine, minimal rust (cab and front clip)
D60 front
14b rear with disk brakes *Kerts brackets and new rotors and calipers*
several transmissions and tranfercases to choose from including:
th400 low milage mated to a np203
3 sm465s 1 mated to a np208 1 mated to a np205 and one unknown but I think it had a 205 as well *I need to check adapter patterens and output splines*
2 additonal np203's

Goodies:
NWF highsteer crossover steering arms
all 9/16 greasable shackle bolts
9/16 front rear shackle hanger things
tubular engine crossmember
3" rancho softride front springs (really flexy)
205 SYE parts
Kert's 14B gaurdsman pinion gaurd
warn M12000
PTO drive ramsey 8000 *rear winch maybe?* **I have 2 PTO boxes one for a sm465 and one for a NP205**
*I THINK* I have matching yokes for everything and I THINK they are for 1410 u-joints??
LPG only set up *I dont know if I will use this*
york compressor off a fullsize jeep *not sure if its the big one*
1 or 2 2.5gal air tanks
Once upon a time I had 35 spline outers for the d60 I will have to do some searching
ORD steering brace
hydro boost brake system *need hoses*
a good 2wd steering box
I am sure I have more I just have to go dig through stuff and take inventory....

I also have some square tube and angle iron as well as lots of scrap iron.

At my disposal I have my old crew cab project and another mid 70s c20 with another good 454, and a 6.2L diesel that came from the crew cab years ago.

I will update as things progress lol.
I hope they progress HAHA

I know right..... I am waiting for my phone to get replaced by the insurance. And I dont have a digi camera. And I dont want to put old pics up lol

So far this is a lame thread I KNOW I KNOW! sorry.
No pics yet but I just learned my little brother has a holley pro-jection 4 system that he has no plans for....... Now I need to figure out a way of bartering that from him.

You're killing me! Been drooling over your list of goodies up there since you started the thread, SO many options!

Ok I need more coffee. Looking forward to seeing this unfold.

Its killing me as well. I HATE wiring and I have to get dads truck going first then I can dive into the good stuff.

Some pics are loading however.

OK so here is "The General" 1977 gmc K25 350 th350 np 203 14b d44.
This truck is virtually new. I put a lot of time and some money into this truck. This one is dads truck now and the one I have to finish up to get my junk back.

I had project burnout on this truck after the wires under the dash literaly caught fire while I was driving down the road. I bought a "EZ" harness for it and a friend started the rewire on it. I wasnt happy with the work he was doing and it has sat since.

I have to finish the wire job and change the front fenders change the bed and add a second gas tank.

There really isnt anything wrong with the bed other than it does not have gas doors and it only has a pass side tank. The front fenders only have pin holes on the bottom rear where it curves back under the body.

Ok heres some of my junk lol.
this truck is a 78 gmc k25 camper special. it has a new 454 new th400 and a np203 it has a ff14b rear and I am pretty sure in 78 they went to a 10B front. The cab is just flat out rotten under the floors and almost nothing works like the wipers most the lights ect. (OH and there might be some title issues... The PO recently told me it might have a lean on the title that he never paid off)

This is my main donnor for the project. The front fenders and bed are going on the general (dads truck). I will likely use the 454 and sell the th400. Other stuff such as spring hangers might come from this truck too.

LOL here lies the remains of my once much enjoyed 1985 GMC K5. There are some frame issues that should be an easy fix once I peal the tub off.
the demise of this truck was I bought it as a repo. Somewhere in the paper work the title got a dismantlers permit on it. it can never be titled in utah again. This truck was my first to get a REAL build. I swapped in 1 tons, SM465/NP205, 3" rancho soft ride lift. AND about 4 junkyard 305 V8s LOL. it has been pilfered of most its good parts over the years and a fellow CK5'er has the old hard top, Jason, AKA Krusty.

And here is the cab and front clip I will use. This is an 83 chev K20 I was a 6.2L 465/208 10b sf14b. I am thinking of using this trans as its the best one of the few I have (doesnt pop out of 3rd).

Has a clean title and little rust. Only the cab corners are rusted on this and those will get replaced with rec tube rockers. The fenders and rad support will most likely get a radical chop so the rust there doesnt matter.

Its so difficult to stay on course when there are deals to be had.
recently I have found:
A blazer rolling chassis with drive train for $900 little steep but I bet could be haggled, would save a bunch of time.
a very very clean and nice complete blazer that needs an engine for $1000 could be a very nice rig with my goodies.
several shortbeds of various condition under $1000

Well Im back once again.
Updates...
The camo truck did NOT get rewired... instead the engine has come out and been put in my dads 73 nova. I'm torn about how I feel about this. On one hand the nova is pretty sweet with the engine in there on the other hand I put a LOT of work into that truck and hate to see it sit in the bone yard again.

However I am now free to do as I please with the stuff in the bone yard. I still want to build a trazer.
Absolutely no real progress has happened thus far. :doah:
Now Can anyone tell me a measurement and a reference point to cut the blazer tub so that a truck cab will fit? I have to start with the frame, which means I need to cut the cab portion off and build a crossmember and rear cab mounts for the truck cab. I have decided to keep the bed of the blazer for now since I have a SH!T TON of work to do without building a custom bed. I dont even know where to start for measuring and cutting the tub. best I can come up with is measure from the front body mount bolt to the back of the cab and add a few inches... will that work or am I way off base?

More questions in no particular order.
I will keep the stock length rancho soft ride 3" lift but would like to move the axle forward as much as possible without getting into crazy modifications to correct moving the axle forward. I also want to keep the truck as low as possible so I would rather move where the spring mounts forward. I am thinking about Kerts a-bomb for the front and welding up the stock rear shackle hanger holes and moving that forward. So how far forward can I move the axle without having to mess with other stuff like steering? Is 2-3" too much?

Has anyone come up with a solid solution for what master cylinder to use with 4 wheel disk brakes? I think I am going to use the hydro booster rather than a vacuum booster.

Have any of you converted from mechanical clutch to hydro clutch? I know there are external slaves that can be adapted to the bellhousing but the part I am not certain of is the pedal assembly and figuring out where to mount the master on the firewall.

I feel I need a solid plan of action this time. With my crew cab I just went at it all haphazardly and quickly overwhelmed myself and got in over my head. Not so much my ability but knowing what to do next.

Sorry about my grammar and spelling and run on sentences, deal with it cuz Im not an English major :haha:And thanks in advance. :waytogo:

I think I will measure the pickup from the back of the door opening to the front of the bed then cut the blazer tub at that distance. Does anyone see a flaw in that plan to keep the blazer bed. ?

Stock blazer location for now I may push the axle back a bit but nothing drastic. I miss my blazer for the minimal effort/mods it just worked well for me. However the front axle I want to push forward as far as I can without having to change the steering box location. I am thinking just by studying a stock truck that I might be able to get 3-4" forward with crossover but that a ways off yet. I really think I want Kerts A-bomb setup. I have a few of his products and want more LOL.

And when all else fails I have a sawsall to keep the tires happy
Honestly there may be a lot of cut sheet metal before I'm done.

Holy jeezus dude! :eek1: You got like your own personal pick and pull yard there! I'd kill to have that kinda stuff at my disposal for projects / comparisons.. (Or a wife that wouldn't complain about my junk piling up in the driveway!) :D

Looking forward to seeing what you finally decide for your project!

Haha... I hate to speak for everyone, but I think odds are pretty good that we prefer the bad grammar and occasional swear here and there! Anyone looking for good sentence structure here is in the wrong place!
