What are the benefits of this setup? I understand the basic concept, but not the gains of it. It seems like you wouldn't be able to have a "performance motor" running on propane. The whole 100lb tank in the back kinda scares me too, but thats a different issue. What kind of fuel economy would you expect? Power? Drivabality? Thanks!

Propane injection is found in diesels, to suppllemt for power and mileage.

Propane injection is not found in gas engines. A chev 350 for example, is run strictly on propane or gasoline, or with the option to run either at the flick of a switch, called dual fuel.

incredibly simple and reliable
higher octane rating then gas 100+ IIRC
you can get the good stuff used/rebuilt for $400 for the engine side buit have to get your own tanks etc
you want an OHG mixer!

I havent dealt with this local guy but he has a good simple website

http://www.propaneguy.com/

if you deal with him and there are 'issues' I am close enough to knock on his door if required.

downfalls of propane:
-doesnt like extreme cold
-availability, here there are many filling stations

I have a friend that is alt fuel certified and did many big block dual mixer installs
his boss had a 500", dual mixer, turbocharged, C6 gearvendored, lincoln.

he did real sweet looking installs (unlike most shops) so I could try and get details from him for making it look clean and pro,
