Proper gaskets

I bought some Napa "Seal Tech" intake gaskets. They are red in color and claim to have a teflon coating and steel core. Are they ok with an aluminum manifold? I'm about to swap on an aluminum ebrock manifold....... and the instructions say use a felpro printoseal instead of a permatorqe gasket. Which are these gaskets equivalent to? What would be better to use around the water ports, red or black RVT?

i like black my self. and the gaskets need to be paper style. the printo seal is a thin factory aplyed bead of sealer around the ports for best seal. i have never had bad luck with the printo seals.

so should I take this back?

So I'm guessing this is the wrong gaskets? The edelbrock website recommends something else under their manifold installation instructions. Maybe I should take this back and get a refund.

here's a quote straight from edelbrock's website:
"CAUTION: Always use new gaskets as recommend. Check with gasket manufacturer for compatibility with aluminum intake manifolds. We recommend Fel-Pro Printoseal gaskets instead of Permatorque. "

i put the felpro brand on my edelbrock intake, put it in yesterday no leaks yet! we used them on my last truck 2.

I have never seen those, from a glance at your photo I'd say there trying to imatate a " print o seal ". I always use Felpro myself.

The reason for the teflon coated gaskets is to allow movement between the two different types of metal.

Aluminum exands and contracts at a faster rate than steel so there will be some movement actually occuring on the gaskets.

after doing some research and emailing the company, I've decided to take them back in favor of some felpro printoseals. The steel core of these gaskets makes them unsuitable for the expansion rates of aluminum.

anybody got the part #?

I went to Advanced today and the only felpro's they had were blue in color, I think those were the BAD metal core Permatorque's, not sure..
What color are the Felpro Printoseals? What part # are they?

Felpro # 1204 is one, I'll find others and post. Another print o seal # is 1207. The differences are port dimensions. I question the concern over steel core or not only because so far as different expansion rates go thats already happening with the aluminum intake and the cast iron heads. Any major engine builders have input on that?

I called edelbrock and they said felpro 1256, which is a black gasket, I hope this is right, I'm gonna try to see if any local stores have them.
