I just picked up a set of 24 bolt H1 rims and 37" goodyear wranglers and a set of 8 bolts for my 39.5 TSLs. I have some 2 5/8 spacers that I can run and should work great but I wanted to get the brotherhood take on spacers vs dually hubs.

I currently run a srw dana 60 and 14 bolt but now that I will be running H1 rims exclusively on both the street and off road i'm wieghing my options on swapping to dually hubs and trying to pick up a dually 14 bolt that can put single rear wheel hubs on and get it close to the same width as the the dually front.

What say ye?

I would buy drw D60 hubs and KEEP your srw hubs, the srw stuff is getting rare and valuable so if you ever change back you'd have them. Use some spacers on the rear to get it close, no biggie.

I read this and it got me thinking:

"Closest match to a DRW front end (~77") is an '88-'01 dually pickup 14-bolt (~72") with the DRW hubs removed and replaced with SRW hubs. This make the overall width about 76"."

I think I would trade some one for some dually hubs for the front and run spacers on the rear. Why cause it seems to me that is the best solution

meh you can by the SRW hubs new and there not all that expensive you cannot buy DRW hubs to my knowledge so that would make them just as desirable as the SRW hubs

I know new are available but only aftermarket, GM has disco'd them. As for used value, drw's are slow to sell for $100 a pair and srw's easily go for $100 each.

I was just saying its a fair deal to trade good DRW hubs for good SRW hubs

This is the route im going. Dually axles from a 1984 K30, D60 front and D70HD rear. I got a set of SRW hubs, and i can tell you about a possible landmine to avoid. Make sure you get SRW from the same side of the year split. the hub design changed in 1988. get the wrong ones, and they wont work. Thats the issue im having with my D70HD, i got SRW hubs from a 2001 Gvan, and they dont work. So im still trying to find the SRW hubs from a pre 1988 14 bolt.

Just remember that if you go with the DRW front hubs and spacers rear, then they will have to be some really big spacers. The front DRW hubs are about 4" wider per side so you would need 4" wide spacers for the rear. Keep in mind the SRW rear axle is already about 3" total narrower than a SRW D60.

I would not suggest running spacers in this instance. There is ALOT of leverage on a spacer when you're using a wheel with alot of offset like the H1 wheels have.

I struggled with this decision as well as I have a perfectly good 14-bolt with a Detroit already in the truck. In the end though I decided on the 70HD with the SRW hubs along with the DRW hubs on the front. Whenever the swap is completed I guess I'll try to sell the 14-bolt to recoup some of the costs of building the 70HD.

im running a d60 with drw hubs and a d70hd in the rear with disc conversion and SRW 14bff hubs, and WMS is essentially the same front and rear with my h1 rims. couldnt be happier with the setup and decision to go with it. pics are in the how my k5 will look with xx lift and xx tires
