I broke a shock mount on the K5 and I am not sure if I want to bother with fixing it to only have it happen again... What are some pros and cons to inboarding the rear shocks? This truck is slowly becoming a dedicated wheeler but I still do drive it on the street. Just looking for some input

The higher angle (off vertical), the less effect the shocks have. If you put them at, say, 45*, your truck flops about like a halibut out of water. BTDT. You could double up on shocks or get stiffer ones, but that's a lot of re-engineering versus just repairing the existing mount.

Were it me, I'd strengthen the existing one and call it good. I went through a lot of work to inboard mine only to put them back later.

that is the only con I can think of as well....I believe up to 15* of verticle is acceptable mounting for most shocks, and ideally when compressed they should be as verticle as possible....

Pros - my shocks will never bottom out at full droop nor full stuff.
- The inboard shocks give a lateral support similar to having a rear swaybar (I don't know how bit it works)
-The lower shock mounts are above the axle so they can't get caught up on the trail
- it doesn't look stock

Cons. -The bump stops will need to be removed or relocated
-The exhaust may need to be relocated depending on your setup.
-Too low of an angle (off vertical) and the shocks are ineffective.
It doesn't look stock:rolleyes:

Personally I am very satisfied with my rear inboard setup. It is steady on the street and trail. I can catch a little air and it lands smooth and don't bounce around like before.

Here's mine: image.jpg
