protection after rust repairs are done

I work with propane tanks, and when we install an underground tank, we attach sacrificial anode bags to the tanks. Then we go out every so often and check the tanks with some type of a meter that tells us when the anode bags are spent, and they replace them if needed. It saves the steel tanks from rusting in the wet ground... I wonder if this could work on a car, or why it wouldn't work?

it's because on a vehicle it's such a "localized" event... on a boat, or underground, you have the moisture to conduct all over the item... if that makes sense... :screwy:

great, now I''l be changing zincs on cars too... :wink1: :haha:

My sister put something similar to that on her 2001 Wrangler when she bought it brand new (within one week) and she just had to have $1500 worth of tub rust fixed...:doah: Skip it

JC Whitney used to sell a sacrificial anode type system for cars. The listing showed a picture of a battleship and explained how it worked electrically. I think you can still get zinc anodes for your cooling system, though. If the idea is hokey enough for JC Whitney to drop it, what does that tell you?
