What did I do wrong? :doah:

I've got a leak from the lash adjuster on the top plate. I installed the PSC assist stuff, works great, but I ended up with a leak from the adjuster. Should I pull the nut off and throw a copper crush washer on there? There wasn't anything when I put it back together, never leaked before.

FYI: When I bled the hydro system, I did it with the engine off. (since it couldn't run anyway) It was on jack stands, poured Royal Purple synthetic in the reservoir and turned the wheels. Kept pouring/ turning wheels until it the level stopped dropping. It got hard to turn since the system was full and the ram was full. Started it up, moved the wheel some, and it felt great. Also, I lost a little "return to center" but it's hardly noticeable, same goes for "reaction speed" when turning the wheel back and forth through a parking lot. Again, EASILY manageable. :waytogo:

Did you loosen and make an adjustment there? If so then you need to replace the nylock nut. The nylon is actually what prevents leaks there as the fluid will work it's way up the threads of the adjuster screw and if the nylon is bad it will leak.

I did take it all the way apart. Hmmm, though maybe it was just coming out around the nut.

roger that Scott

ah

does anyone know the size and thread pitch of the nut I need? Rather not take it off until I got a new one ready.

The correct size is between one size smaller and one size larger than you need. :D

Let me go check a few that I believe I haven't thrown away yet after some of the last rebuilds i've done. The correct size is 7/16" -20

thanks Scott

I award you this :D:

Crap, first time Osh hardware has ever let me down. Always fun finding hardware on a sunday.

Sweet, got a copper washer and new nylock nut. I was paranoid about the sealing between the nut and cap, so I threw a copper washer in there. Not sure if it was truly needed, but I have no more leak. :) Thanks again Scott
