The only reason I still have my truck is due to the hidden kill switches. Probably saved my home from getting hit to as they nabbed the registration and paperwork stuff, along with the garage door opener. Got to the hotel around 10pm. Found it at 6:30 am. Everything inside gone, from my prescription glasses, to my work gloves and other stuff. Thieves suck.

Anyways, I remembered a few threads about kill switches on here, but I have never seen anyone post anywhere with pictures of the the switches working. So here it is. I have them hidden very well in all vehicles with different systems disabled.

This truck was start-able with a flat blade screwdriver. The cylinder bolt is pushed up enough to turn it once you insert it deep enough to hit the bottom release. Of course they used a hammer on the door. Lot is light and That's the entrance area.

Not much around except hotels. It was a prettty damn clean hotel too. Lots of lighting. We were there for my sons STEM competition for school.

I've had one truck stolen before and that was an 88 chevrolet. They made little springs which they used to hold the steering lock pawls up on that one. Its interesting to see how they do it as it helps us figure out how to beat them.

Really the kill switches is it. They are gonna **** the column up no matter what...

Glad that they didn't get your truck.
Nice to see that the kill switch worked!
Would pulling the Dmax emblems help much?

The shifter and the gauges on the A pillar would still be something to make some look deeper.

Allegedly I have heard that if the truck has a ravelco system on it they just skip the truck.

I have that on the k30 and I have a switch on my dodge but let’s be real the dodge is a last resort steal compared to superduty and duramax trucks.

The whole thing is tough. I think the ravelco thing leans more to advertising there are deep wiring tricks needed, versus the thief not knowing up front. Bottom line is they'll just tow it if they really want it. I can't say which is better. I do know whatever you do you want the canbus stuff still energized, so factory security features still work as well as interior stuff. My goal was to make the thieves think they screwed up and leave.

Lower Metro area is really getting bad. I'm reading on NextDoor at least twice/week people are getting their vehicles stolen. Whole vehicles or the cats.
