i have a koeing on my 79. I've broke 5/16 cable before with no damage to the frame I thought about going to 3/8 cable but I like to use the smaller cable to keep from breaking the winch or pto u joints /forums/images/graemlins/usaflag.gif

i had a 20K in the bed of my old wheeling rig. i took some c channel and put it inside the frame rails, then bolted through the winch, frame rail, then channel. the channel also was bolted to the frame rail in 4-5 other spots per side. i had 350' of 9/16 cable and pulled plenty hard with it without anything ripping or breaking.
