My 85 will not let belts live with the ac on.
I think the problem is mismatched pulleys, brackets, etc. I beleieve my truck is on a 1988 chassis with a 1988 engine. But either way I have tried different belt configurations , with different belts and it just doesn't work. Both belts basically need to be forced on with adjustments backed off all of the way. Then I tighten them.
What pulleys, or brackets do I need. Please help me.
Thanks, Tim

The belts are not routed correctly.
The power steering pump belt is middle crank inner water pump and outter ps pump groves.
The ac is inner crank, inner ps and ac compressor.

Tighten the power steering belt 1st then the compressor belt second.

It will clear, might be hard to fit belt between the crank and waterpump pulleys. Little rotation of belt while fitting on the crank pulley will help

The ac doesn't line up with the water pump pulley, but it is rubbing on the back of it.
I'm considering cutting off the the last groove on the wp pulley

Well that is not going to work the belt will fail.

It is not uncommon for the ps pump and the ac to to be miss aligned.
People forget spacers or reassemble the brackets incorrectly.
My thought now is the ac compressor is to far forward maybe just at the top

Idk how I would move the ac compressor back. I bought a shim kit for the water pump pulley. 1/4" and it still catches while running.

Actually, that belt is rubbing on the bottom of the water pump as I feared. Adjustment is maxed out on ac and ps. I've basically spent the the entire weekend in 90° + heat trying to fix this and have gotten nowhere.
