Pulling a 350

I have a 350 motor I am getting in an early 1980s chevy van that I am needing to pull. I am not sure if I can pull it out the front or not. Someone said it might have to be dropped out the bottom.

I really do not have the ability/tools to take it out the bottom. Thanks for info...

PS it has a 14 bolt rear axle, is there anythign special about a 14 bolt from a van?

I've pulled them out of vans before, and I had to remove the hood, core support, radiator, etc from the front of the van. Then I just used an engine crane to grab it at the carb lift plate and slowly lift it up enough to clear the motor mounts and out it came.

Van 14 bolts are wider than SRW truck 14 bolts.

also most van 14 bolts are semi float.

and pullin motor can be fun in van. sometimes diffrent combos of picker and chain need to remove the intake to get it all to come out the front.

i did one and left on intake. but had to pull motor mounts from block or cut them down and swap to the truck ones used when reinstalled to truck.

vans are tight fit.

I yanked a straight six out of my '81 G-10 ,that was harder than a V8,being taller,but it still came out OK--you must hook the crane as close to the block as possibl on a V8,its a tight squeeze but the intake can stay on--carb too,but its so easy to pull the carb off,I did that first,so I wouldn't risk damaging it..

If this is in a junkyard ,they often cut off the whole"cradle" by cutting the bolts near the upper a-frames,the swao bar ,steering shaft,brake lines,etc, and lift the body up with a loader,and the cradle and front sispention can be rolled away like a wheel barrow by a few strong guys ,using the tranny tail as a handle!..we did quite a few that way,it beat torching out the core support,and bumper,and trashing a lot of sellable parts..
