Pulling engine and transmission tips??

I am planning on pulling my SB350 and TH350 in one piece and leave the trasfer case mounted. It looks like the transmission is not really attached to my NP203 transfer case. I am sure that I will find out soon, but I wanted to know if anyone has any tips. I already removed my steering pump and radiator. It looks like removing the starter will help too, but I havn't done that yet. I am sure that I will bust a few knuckles, but so far I have been doing everything the hard way. I hope you guys have some good tips. Thanks in advance!!
 
Make sure you disconnect the exhaust manifolds, all coolant hoses, cables and wires. One I forget now and then is the ground strap on the rear of the passenger side head.

There was never a divorced 203 setup (IIRC). I'm betting its attached. They weigh a lot and will make pulling everything out very difficult. I would recommend disconnecting the trans/TC combo, pull the engine, then drop the trans/TC.

If you really want to take it all out at once, be sure to have the rad out, and a couple of friends to help "ease" it out from under the hood.

Yea. I have the chiltons manual and it says that for a 4 wheel drive setup that you can't remove the engine and transmission together. Since my main goal is just to get the engine out, I will just follow the instructions in the manual which seem to be pretty straight forward. Figured I would check it out with the experts first.

Yeah, I was used to cars were you do pull eng/trans together, but I pulled the trans/T-case out and it was the right choice. Eng comes out (by itself; wouldn't that be sweet?) in three weeks, plus T-case clocking but they will be separate operations, you bet.
 
Well I got the engine out in about 3 hours with a friend helping. I took out the engine and left the transmission in. It actually went pretty well. Some of those bolts are a real pain to get to though. Now the real fun begins.
