Pulling Motor, New one in! New flex pics on last pg.

Looks like we are doing about the same thing...6 or so more bolts and you could have taken the whole clip off together and made it easier to weld the brace, reinstall the motor, hook up the headers....

Well I am putting together the engine now. Thanks Bradshawtech for the help. I dont know what I would have done without him. He knows a lot of little tricks. The headers are going on tonite, along with all the accessories and other stuff. I decided not to repaint the firewall, to much work.I WILL be driving this burb this weekend.

Good job. A couple bolts here, couple bolts there. Next would be taking off the body. It would make it easy, Good luck with your new motor!

It took me two hrs. to clean that thing. It is the stock one. I was going to buy the Edelbrock one, but heard is was not worth the money. So the old one will work.

Did you have to order a special water pump? Autozone has a bunch. $28.00 Brand new.

i had one from summit and the casting right where the power steering pump bolts on split in half. so i shipped it back to summit to ahve them send me a replacement. althought if i knew they were only $30 at vatozone i would've picked one up there.

Tapped the threads, next is to put some all thread in there and use a couple bolts to secure it in there.

Vatozone, Thats funny, The autozone by my house is filled with mexicans all day every day. I am the only white person in there most of the time.

I have to ask. I have seen several builds with engines out for rebuild and stuff and have seen several people paint the engines black as you have done. Is it just preferance as to why you choose this color? I wouldve thought that with it being black it would make it harder to spot any leaks. i could be wrong but jsut a random thought lol

That is the way it came from the builder. I know I didnt want orange though. Would have clashed with the red. It is clean now, before I couldnt tell if it was a new leak or an old one. There was so much oil and dirt on that motor, I couldnt tell where the leak came from. I wanted silver but this will work. I will be able to see the leak if and when there will be one.

Ok that makes since just a side thought i always had whenever i see pictures of black engines and figured i would ask

Well, Here is the headers that showed up on my doorstep last night. I wish I did'nt have to get the ones with the A.I.R rail for smog. Here is a pic.

When you get that thing running, I'll bet that you will have a smile from ear to ear for at least a month. You're doing a great job.

Thanks man. It has been a fun learning experience doing this. I have never done this before. I cant wait to get it back on the road again. I have a 5.13 ring and pinion in the mail so now i need a front to match. Then I am going to wheel the snot out of it. Then I will have something else to fix. Thanks again!!

Well, I pressure washed the engine bay, Welded in the steering brace. I am going to put on the intake, headers and everything else today. I will put it in thurs or fri. Then on Sat. do all the wiring. Then I have to clean and paint the core support and inner fenders. So, hopefully late sunday I hope to be on the road. Hopefully!!! I frickin can't wait.

Good stuff man. Maybe I'll get my junk put back in the bay this weekend too. We can have a race as to who gets done first lol.

Sweet, Sound good. What are you doing to it? New motor? Hey, I have a couple questions, Hope you can help. When putting on the intake, Do I put RTV on the gaskets and the front and back of the motor, or just on the front and back of the intake? also, on the headers, I dont use any rtv right? Thanks!!! Good luck! Do you have any pics of what your doing?
