I just replaced both seals and the oring in my 350/205 and it is still pushing fluid into the tcase. I pulled back apart and the seals are in correctly and not damaged. There are some shiny spots on the coupler where the seals ride but I cant "feel" them when I drag an ice pic across them. Any ideas? should I replace it? And where can I get it if I do? I see advanced adapters has one but is I believe it is the newer style. Mine has a step where the bearing rides and an external clip to hold in place

I had the same issue once with my TH350 / NP 205. It most likely has to be the seals that's still causing the issue. If you tried everything.. you can fill the 205 up with ATF so the exchange of fluid won’t hurt the trans. Gear oil is preferred on the 205… but it will work just fine with ATF. GM actually recommend ATF in the later 205’s but the reason had more to do with fuel economy.

oh yea.. I think it was the speedy sleeve that fixed mine.

speedy sleeve? can you explain?

the coupler between the tranny and tcase?

http://www.advanceadapters.com/products/pn-52-9503/

this doesnt look like the one I have

The problem I have is that the tcase is filling up eventually it will get to the breather and then out correct? Not to mention the low level condition in the trans.

I had a guy fix it up for me... so I'm not 100% sure on the technical. But I did need that coupler for him to fix it and I got the exact same one. He also used a speedy sleeve somewhere ...just google speedy sleeve or search here.

Did you check to see if your trans vent line is plugged ????

also,, are the seals in the adapter plate facing the correct way ?

the open side of the seals must be facing the oils in the transmission and the transfer case....

while your at it.. take out and clean the vent to the top of the 205. Should pop out.. probably rusted shut and not venting. I had to get a small drill bit and drill mine back open..

Hrmmmm...this makes me wonder.

If I check my fluid on my 700R4 properly it says it's about right.
However I have a constant leak out the rear seal of my 241. Both use ATF. Been this way for 2 years now.
I drained the t-case 2 years ago when my buddy and I replaced the rear seal and bushing thinking that was why it was leaking. Genuine GM parts and no difference in the leak.
Now it seems to be worse and I've got ATF all over the bottom of the truck and the t-case. If I pull the fill plug on the 241 it runs right out, almost like it's overfull...yet the trans dip stick never says it's low?

yes..the case will overfill.... it will screw with the reading on the trans dip stick. The case will rob the trans of it's fluid. That's how I found my issue.. trans said low and I knew damn well I wasnt leaking any ATF anywhere. Open the NP 205 and it was a gear oil / ATF mix... case was robbing the trans and taking it away.

Not the end of world for you guys that have transfer cases that use ATF...

Yeah but my transmission's dipstick reads correctly every time I check it.

(Yes, I'm checking it correctly - warmed up, fluid circulated and warmed up, at idle, parking brake on, yadda yadda...)

If the vent tube is working correctly thats not going to fix the problem. Its just going to let the tranny push fluid into the tcase. overfill it then push it out of the tcase and onto every thing under the Jimmy. But that speedi sleeve. Hmmmm. Im gonna look into that. Thanks for the info
