I bought Msd 6a this weekend and im gonna put it on tomarow maybe. Any tips as to where is the "best" place to mount it or what not to do? I was thinkin on the fender next to the battery, or on the fire wall between the Dist and A/c

BTW im not gonna need a bigger alternator or anything rights:confused:

Stock alt is just fine!

Put it in a protected place away from extreme heat and excessive water contact , and resist the urge to not use the little rubber isolator feet.

I have mine in a ammo can with a couple ATV airbox vents, they let air in but keep 99% of the water out.

The number one way to help keep a MSD box alive is to never weld on the rig with the +/- cables hooked up! This info is out of the mouth of a MSD service tech.

I have no idea what the guys with Mobi/Ready onboard welders do.

Good luck, Jeff

I put my 6AL box up behind the guage cluster on the interior of the firewall.

I figured it was a lot less likely to get wet if I put it in the cab with me. There was plenty of room behind the gauges too....

i helped a buddy install one and afterwards his stereo had a loud electical popping noise in it. But i think you can get a filter from radio shack to fix it.

A guy I know has his mounted in his glove box so he could lock the glovebox. I think he used his as more of a battery shut off to prevent theft though...

i killed my 6al and then warrentyed it for a swap out to a off road box. better unit full of shock absorbent stuff. and wether pack terminals. also major thing use the rubber isolators to mount it. or this will give you quick death to the box.

I was always a fan of the 6AL box , built in rev control is nice for people with power judgment or lack of sense;) . I set my selector module to 5K and let it fly.

Mine didnt come with any rubber feet. What do you suggest? i was gonna use about and inch of vacuum hose and just squeeze it down.
