The job site that I am on. We have some leftover PVC. Anyone know the size I would need? Boss said I can take it home. Thanks a lot:waytogo:

We made some inserts out of some 18" pipe and did the math and cut a slit out to make them the proper diameter

We cut the width of the insert from the pipe then since the pipe has a larger diameter we cut across it so now it looks more like a C than a O. Did the math on the circumference and cut again a few inches from the first cut so when it goes back together it is the right diameter for the h1 wheel. The pipe naturally wants to spring back even after cutting the slit out. On one set we just wrapped duct tape around the insert to keep it together and the other we made little plates and small screws to connect the pipe back together. Really once the tire and rum are bolted together the cut down insert can't go anywhere.

There was a thread on this a while back. Basically you have to get the correct diameter or it's not worth it. A couple of us even measured our inserts and posted dimensions. You also have to get the material cheap/free, as nobody found a way to buy pipe and cut it without spending more than TWF charges. If it's the right size and free you've hit the mother lode.

EDIT: here it is: http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=304483

I have to disagree with the pipe having to be exactly right as we have 2 rig here running modified plastic pipe inserts made from the underground pip we bury for irrigation distric. The one is cut down 18" for H1s and 42s and the other is cut down 21" to fit on home made double beadlocks the work like H1s with 49s on them. Both been over 2-3 years now and no problem.
Myself, my H1s came with the mag inserts so I cut the runflats off and basically made them into 2 piece inserts. They are super easy to install since you can bolt them together in the tire and really light. I also narrowed them up like ¼" to account for the thicker 43 tire bead.
