Do both belt styles turn the pump in the same or opposite direction?

I'm about to swap to a serp set up on my 454 and I'm hoping I can just put my good v-belt pump in the serp resevoir.

I thought I'd asked this before but I can't find it... :dunno:

swap the pulley and good to go aslong as thay both mount the same way pattern wise.

i did serp belt swap in my 79 sbc truck with 93ish serp and only prob i had was american thread holes on 79 pump over 90's metric.

Ouch, I didn't think about the metric vs standard fasteners. I'll look at that and pull both pulleys and compare bolt patterns.

bolt patterns were the same for what I had, but as Brett mentioned the studs in the rev rot w/p are metric.

I thought he was asking about the power steering pump.

all the fastners swaped to metric after a point. h20 pump also. easy to work around tho. :waytogo:

and bolt patterns not changes on pumps.

I just swapped my 82 454 to a serp belt setup off a 99 454. My pump bolted right into place and I just pressed the new pulley onto it. Now the pulley on the pump and crank are both bigger than the old 82 stuff but still same ratio. Also the ps pump mounted lower on the engine and I had to slightly notch the frame for adequate clearance.
