This is my first diesel, so Im wondering if it is "okay" to put a 360/clamshell air cleaner on it? Any one have a suggestion for an inexpensive model?

Thanks,

I'd definately NOT put that Edelbrock POS on it..I have two of those ,and they suck, the spring clips barely hold the cover on,and the foam elements fall apart and get sucked into the engine, then let dust and grit go in unfiltered,,a diesel would likely suck the foam element right in and inhale it!..

I dont see anything wrong with a stock air cleaner, but you do have to remember a diesel is always sucking in the maximum amount of air it can at ALL speeds, even at idle its sucking more air in than a 4 barrel carb is wide open..so the air filters do clog up faster, and its important to keep them changed often..

4me, thanks tons for the info, sounds like you know what your talking about and you have good insight. Ill leave her stock, and maybe look for a K&N element that will fit the stock cover.

Thanks-
Andrew

Another reason to keep the stock air fliter housing is noise...you would not believe how damn loud a 6.2 is with an open element filter.
