I have some things Im going to paint with TSC straight enamel paint, will be using the hardener with it (Both are Valspar)... is there any "inexpensive" "clear coat" that you might suggest? Im looking for a little better shine and protection.

The projects do not justify $130/gal super-euro-clear-coat-liquid-gold. :-)

Thanks for any help...
Andrew

Well, since no one else has jumped in here and you have been waiting for a while, I will give you my answer.

I don't know.

Not much, but at least I answered.

If the clear coat and the paint are the same brand, try their website or a paint store that carries that brand.

I would suggest trying it on a scrap piece somewhere to see if its at least compatible short term, but if you are using a spray gun, that's an awful lot of work for a test.

Thanks J, I did check the manuf. of the enamel paint, no CC made... and I dont know if there is even a CC for enamel.

So if someone with more knowledge can step up, thanks!

Well, heck, just for fun, I did a Google search with the terms "clear coat over enamel"

Got lots of answers, you need to read them. They are all over the page.
Looks like the answer is probably yes, depending on which paints, but the clearcoat must be applied within a certain time frame, or you will have to lightly sand the base coat.

Maybe...
