Sorry, but I have to vent. Here goes... @#*%* Quadra-Junk!!! I'm sick of this thing craping out!!! The Beast is going up for sale definately this coming summer, if I don't destroy it first! Just put a new electric choke element on a few weeks ago (thanks Grim) and now it's crapping out yet again. Time to suit up and go probing around in -20 degree weather. Let's just say I'm not thrilled. My next vehicle will definately be fule injected!! Well, I don't feel any better, but I had to vent. Time to go freeze...

If you don't hardcore wheel your truck you might want to look at the Edelbrock 1406. 600 CFM with electric choke and I really like the way it runs on the street. It will load up and stall out on steep trails and such though. I found it to be very easy to tune and the improvement in throttle response was incredible.
To use it on the factory manifold you'll need an adaptor because the Edelbrock is square bore instead of spreadbore. I also used a Moroso throttle linkage adaptor.

Just some thoughts...you could also go out and buy the Edelbrock Q-jet too. It's pretty spendy though in comparison.

I've tryed running the new carb idea by the wife.... with no success. She's tired of dumping money into it, and now that we've decided to sell it for something more reliable, definately won't happen now.

Geez, selling the truck cause of a carb problem... wow... tough luck dude. The Q-jets are great carbs... when they are new. I had a whole pile of probs with mine and finally ended up dropping it in the trash can and replacing it with an Edelbrock Performer 1405(manual choke). I have never looked back and that was 10 yrs ago. If your prices compare with the rest of the states, a friend of mine bought one last yr in La for 210.00. The adapter from spread bore to square bore is worth about 15.00. You wont have any more troubles, and I know you wont be disappointed.

i'm sorry to hear that man. i won't give up my truck for nothing. my step mom told me to get rid of my truck or get out. my ex-girl friend sied you spend more time and money on your truck than with her. but you got a wife. so that changes things. dunno what i do in that situation.
 
My wife has tried to get me to get rid of my jimmy many times. I just tell her it paid for and what i spend on parts is still less than half what a car payment would be. One thing to think about...it's harder to sell a vehicle that isn't running right. Which means to get a decent price for it you'll have to fix it anyways. Once it's fixed you won't have a good reason to sell it!

Ahh crap! What have I done?! I'm chasing after some girl up at college and I still have to put alot of time into finishing my Blazer (need to replace 1 beside, paint, and reassemble). Oh well, there's gotta be some good behind them damn women

Well, the thing is, my last three vehicles have had alot of $ dumped into them, so I have a bad record going on. Sold the '70 bronco before going cross-country, sold the '85 Fiero GT before moving up to Alaska, and I guess it would be better to have something newer and 99% reliable, especially when one could die on the side of the road up here. Harsh winters...

Your blazer will bust your knuckles, but not your balls. Girls will.

The flip side is anything can leave you standing on the side of the road...I don't care how new it is. I understand your situation but honestly even if you had a new truck I'd still recomend a winter survival kit of some sort in the truck at all times. You know, blankets, first aid kit, tools, etc.

It just makes more economic sense to repair what you have.
Remember...this is just my 2 cents worth, it looks like a decent Blazer with a minor carb issue. I'd try and keep it.
