Hi. I'm new to this site. I have a 1988 k5. Put a 60/14b under it. 4" lift and 39.5 tsl's. I want to move the front axle forward and keep my leaf springs. Has anyone moved their axle forward while keeping the same suspension? Any help would be great! Thanks.

You can redrill the perches ~1.5" or use some zero rates which add an inch of height.

yeah I thought about that but I don't want to go any taller as my blazer sits just low enough to fit in the garage. I was looking to push it forward at least 2-3". Thanks though.

Yeah the only way to get it that far forward would be the 52" spring swap, or something custom.

Maybe get some B52 brackets and use the forward most setting & hole (also move the rear hanger forward to accomdate).

Or redrill your spings, but that is not recomended.

I have heard that springs will crack and fail but I have redrilled at least 5 sets of springs. Never drilled them so the old hole was outside of the spring plate or the perch and have never had one fail. Two sets are about 5 yrs old and were wheeled hard on a heavy ramcharger and a heavy blazer

Although expect to go through alot I mean alot of bits if you go this way spring steel is hard

If you redrill your perch and redrill the center pin you can probably get about 2.5 inches out of it.

All he needs to do is move the hangers forward however far he wants o move the axle. It would actually be easier with the shorter springs. If you use centered 52"s, you can only move the spring forward an inch or so before you run out of frame.

With 46"s you would need to move the frame eye forward too or you would have zero droop.

I have 52s on mine and it moved the axle 2" forward. I am also keeping it low to fit in the garage with my xmls but now my pitman arm hits the spring plate at 2" of up travel. just something to keep in mind with moving the axle forward

what about drilling a new hole in the axle perches:dunno: might only get 1/2 or 3/4 of an inch, but simple and easy...

Has anyone used fullsize waggoneer front springs on a Chevy? They are like 46"-47" long and the center pin is offset 2".Move the spring hanger forward with these springs would give you atleast 4".

Heres an axle pushed forward with stock springs
