I just saw a commercial for a new oil from Q that they claim increaces torqe. I dont see how motor oil can do that but, I guess it does what they claim or else it would be false advertising, right?
Any normal oil is the same, (synthetic is different) As long as you change your oil on a normal basis, any oil will work. I use Castrol only because my old man used it on stuff, saw him using it as a kid, so that's I used when I had to buy oil. AFA it making power, I call BS. But if it's synthectic, dunno, don't waste my money on it. I never saw a reason to use it...
One of the car shows had an LS1 Camaro that they ran on the dyno with standard fluids and then changed the engine, tranny, and rear end to synthetic. They got 8 more hp at the rear wheels, so synthetics do have some effect on power.
Yep, ~$5 a quart. It is money well spent in a manual transmission and rear end (for a car), IMO. I run 80W-90 in my truck because I end up changing it so often.
